‘Weird’: Young Aussie reveals activity you can no longer do once you are over the age of 25

A young woman has gone viral for revealing the one thing anyone over the age of 25 is too old to do, and people really aren’t happy about it.

At what age does going clubbing look less like a fun night out and more like a cry for help? According to Maddison Lieberwirth, that age is 25.

Ms Lieberwirth amassed over 300,000 views on social media by sharing that she’s always baffled that people her age still want to go clubbing.

“People over the age of 25 that still think clubbing is a good idea. Is everything all good? Is everything okay back home?” she asked.

The 25-year-old said that once you’ve hit the quarter-century mark, clubbing shouldn’t be fun anymore; instead, you should find quiet venues where you can easily find a seat.

Her theory quickly caused controversy online, with many people, you guessed it, over the age of 25 declaring she was wrong. They were fighting for their right to party.

“Are people over 25 not allowed to go out and have fun?” one person asked

“Charli XCX is literally 32 hosting the biggest raves,” another argued.

“I’m 35 and love nights out,” someone else shared.

“I’m 31 and regret wasting those years from 25-30 thinking I was too old,” someone else pointed out.

“I’ll go out until I’m literally in the grave, Maddison,” one joked.

Other people just commented and claimed Maddison must not be any fun if she doesn’t want to go out and find love in the club, if you will.

Despite the backlash, Ms Lieberwirth just doesn’t see the appeal of clubbing anymore and she’s amused that it hit such a nerve.

“Since my frontal lobe has developed, it has not felt the same,” she told news.com.au.

“I have found other ways to spend my time that doesn’t involve drinking or clubbing. I’d much prefer going to a bar, where I can have a seat. Respectfully, if there isn’t a seat, I’m not going.”

The 25-year-old said that, now she’s older and less interested in getting drunk, she doesn’t get the appeal of what clubs have to offer.

“You can’t hear anything and you can’t speak to anyone. You’re just in a communal space, walking around and not speaking to anyone,” she said.

She still goes out at night and catches up with friends, but at bars where there’s somewhere to sit and where she can hear people speak.

She’s also not interested in dating men her age that go clubbing, so going clubbing to meet someone makes zero sense.

“Why are you clubbing at the age of 25? The type of men I want to be around aren’t going clubbing every weekend,” she said.

“Whenever I see people my age or older going clubbing I’m like, is everything okay? I don’t understand how you find it fun.”

Ms Lieberwirth said that when she was younger, she enjoyed it more because she had more surface level relationships.

Now, she’d much rather spend time with her friends and have meaningful conversations than dance to a Rihanna remix.

She’s not shocked that people were offended by her TikTok, but she puts that down to the way people behave on social media.

The 25-year-old said that some people failed to understand that she has a dry sense of humour and was talking about herself, and people just wanted to make the video about them.

“Like use some common sense babe,” she said.

“People get so offended for no reason. If they had a friend that said they didn’t like clubbing, I’m sure they wouldn’t care.”
