Uber driver: ‘This is how we turn economy to first class’

AN UBER driver left a passenger laughing all the way home with a comical spiel that started with: ‘This is your Uber Captain speaking.’ VIDEO.

Is this Sydney's most entertaining Uber driver?

AS FORREST Gump once famously said: ‘Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get’.

The same sentiment can just as easily be applied to Uber drivers and passengers.

But as Sydney resident Amelia — who didn’t want her last name published — found overnight, every now and then you get the crème de la crème.

Amelia “had a few wines” with friends at Sydney’s famous strip Oxford St and thought the entertainment was over for the night when she ordered an Uber home to Bondi in the early hours of Saturday morning.

But she was wrong, with driver Max launching into a comical spiel the moment she buckled up.

“Welcome aboard. Please make yourself comfortable and fasten the seatbelt,” Max told her.

“This is your Uber captain speaking. You’ll be cruising at 30,000 feet and if the weather is not too bad and if we don’t experience any in-flight turbulence this flight should be landing safely in 12 minutes at destination.”

Amelia told news.com.au she then whipped out her phone and said: ‘sorry can you repeat that?” so she could “get it on video”.

“Once we start to descend I will warn you and then you either brace yourself but please don’t try to embrace me because I’m a happily married man,” Max can be heard saying on the video.

“So please resist the temptation and keep a safe distance because any such advances will not be entertained.

“Let me warn you in advance.

“So here’s your in-flight entertainment, just sit back, relax and enjoy the flight. Thank you.”

Max can then be seen turning the volume up on the car radio as music starts to play.

Amelia said the well-mannered driver was also very generous.

“He offered me two bottles of water during the trip to stay hydrated, a jar of mints and kept saying ‘this is how we turn economy to first class’,” she said.

“I thought I was in a parallel universe when I first got in the Uber and he started talking.

“Then I started to enjoy the theatrics once I realised he wasn’t a madman.”

She gave him a five star rating — the highest possible score for drivers on the company’s app.
