TV presenter Amanda Keller reveals her perfect Saturday

Amanda Keller might prefer cooking at home rather than going out but she has a few local spots she loves to go to for a good coffee or date night out.

Is there anything better than a weekend away with friends? Not for television and radio personality Amanda Keller, who says a stay at a guesthouse overlooking the Duckmaloi River near Oberon is among NSW’s best kept holiday secrets.

But a casualty of years on breakfast radio, the co-host of WSFM’s Jonesy & Amanda, and Network 10’s The Living Room, still can’t seem to manage a Saturday sleep-in.

Early riser or a Saturday sleep-in?

After a gazillion years of breakfast radio I have lost the art of a sleep-in, so I am up and about usually around 6am.

Best place to go with the kids?

My favourite thing to do with the four of us is go to watch the Roosters play in the NRL. The boys are 20 and 18 with their own lives now so if we can steal them for the weekend to get to a game, it’s a win!

Favourite park?

Trenerry Reserve at Coogee. It’s a dog park so I love taking my dog Mini there … it overlooks the cliffs of Coogee and the view is spectacular.

Local coffee haunt?

After walking the dog in the morning, I love to have breaky at Coogee Bite.

Best spot for date night?

I like nothing better than cooking dinner at home … I am always trialling a new Ottolenghi recipe … his Chicken Marbella is a favourite of ours, but for a special event you can’t go past Mimi’s.

Favourite takeaway?

Our local Italian in Coogee, La Spiaggia. It’s always a good excuse for a carb fest!

Where and when do you exercise?

During lockdown I was training outside with a trainer in Queens Park and we would also throw the dog a ball, so we all got some exercise. I’m now starting to go back to the gym and the dog is furious and very confused when I leave the house without her.

Best hidden treasure in NSW?

Once a year a group of girlfriends and I get together at a guesthouse overlooking the Duckmaloi River near Oberon. It’s one of my favourite weekends of the year.

Favourite place to holiday in NSW?

Anywhere on the south coast.

What’s your idea of the perfect Saturday?

Early morning walk with a friend and the dog, followed by a bit of baking (a delicious cake or some choc-chip cookies in the Thermomix), an afternoon snooze, friends over for dinner and a game of Mexican Train Dominoes (I sound 100 years old!).
