New data has just revealed the artists and songs topping the charts for their mood-setting melodies. Here’s what people have been listening to in the bedroom all year long.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year– Spotify Wrapped season. The past week has seen every Spotify user graced with an in-depth analysis of their yearly listens, plays and likes, finding a series of curated playlists and recaps to trawl through on their morning commute.

Of course, the beauty of Spotify Wrapped season isn’t found in dissecting our own musical tastes (when you stream four hours of Taylor Swift every day, you probably don’t need the reminder), but rather the sometimes surprising rankings and recaps valiantly displayed on our friends’ Instagram stories.

But as entertaining as individual Wrapped lists can be, dissecting the data on a much larger scale can be even more eye-opening. Luckily, sexual wellness site Bedbible.com just released the most popular (and sexy) bedroom songs of the year, as well as the artists routinely being added to peoples’ ‘sexy playlists’.

While it’s worth spotlighting some honourable mentions, such as Taylor Swift’s popularity in romantic playlists and fan-favourite Drake, Canadian singer and songwriter The Weeknd has unsurprisingly dominated the data. Not only does he rank as number one for the most popular artist overall, five out of the top ten sexy songs have his name slapped on.

The research was collected using Spotify’s Playlist Miner tool to identify the top songs and artists that feature the most across playlists that included certain keywords, such as ‘sex,’ ‘seductive,’ and ‘intimate.’

While the top songs of the year are largely male-dominated, Grammy-winning female artists Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Doja Cat took our 4th, 5th and 8th place for most popular artist respectively. Ranking as number one, The Weeknd’s dominating popularity was hardly matched, with his 1,934 appearances in sexy playlists being more than double second-place Drake’s 963.
