‘This is crazy’: Shoppers in shock over Christmas stock in Big W

Photos of Santa hooded blankets, and ‘ugly Christmas sweaters’ have been posted online with people upset about the premature festive stock, but there’s a simple explanation.

Big W shoppers have been left in shock after spotting a new collection in stores with a very merry theme.

Customers have shared pictures on social media of several Christmas products in Big W, despite it being six months until the festive holidays.

Some of the items include red Santa Claus oversized hooded blankets and navy jumpers with Christmas pictures.

“This is crazy!"

One person shared a picture of the jumper to Facebook group Big W Mums with an excited emoji face.

While some people thought the retailer was outrageous for putting out Christmas products so soon, many jumped in to suggest that the clothes were for a Christmas in July offering.

 “This is crazy! Christmas has lost so much magic for companies cashing in so early!! This just bums me out,” one confused mum wrote.

Another person asked, “Really? It’s six months til Xmas, gee the shops are getting earlier every year.”

Others pointed out it was obviously for a promotion.

“For Christmas in July clearly - like no-one’s going to be wearing that on a stinking hot day in December,” a shopper stated.

Someone else wrote,"seems that this idea has been missed. I think it’s awesome. I want one! Hoping to nab one from online.

Other shoppers joked that it was time to “put the tree up”, and someone else said “at least it’s the right season now”.

Many people loved the products, saying “I need one ASAP”, and “OMG Love it”.

The Big W Christmas in July range includes an oversized blanket hoodie in adult and kids sizes for $25 and $29 and a unisex navy Christmas sweater, also available in sizes for kids (size one to 16) and adults - with prices ranging from $15 to $20.
