They're a steal for just $8 at Kmart, but should they be back at all?

They say fashion is cyclical, with popular styles becoming trendy again every 10 to 20 years.

Lately, we’ve seen the resurgence of bubble skirts, Havaianas, and even skinny jeans (although this one I’m still in denial about). But, it seems there’s another trend on its way back in - and not everyone is happy about it.

The perfect shoes for summer?

Kmart has taken to Instagram this week to share that they’re bringing back an old classic for summer this year - jelly sandals.

“Jelly sandals are back for summer ☀️” the post was captioned.

The shoes, on the Kmart website as Fisherman Jelly Sandals, retail for just $8, and come in clear, black and jelly pink.

“This takes me back”

Shoppers were immediately struck with a wave of nostalgia, recalling the last time they slipped a pair of shoes like this on their feet.

“Omg this takes me back 30 years 😂 😍🙌,” one commenter said.

“Aaand… it’s summer 1985 all over again 😅😍,” said another.

“Is it 2004 in here or,” a third added.

Should they be making a return?

Many people in the comments were excited to see the shoes return to stores.

“Love jelly shoes ❤️ always found them so comfortable, hope these are 🤞🏼” said one commenter.

“Cute. These take me back to the early eighties,” another said.

“Did these in the 80s and still love them! I had a pair of lace-up thongs in clear jelly, silver sparkly laces halfway to my knee,” added a third.

But for others, it was a hard no.

“Oh these bring back blissterful memories 😂” one comment said.

“I feel the sweat and hear the squeaks already,” another said.

“Make sure your bandaids and stocked and stocked up in your bag,” said a third.

“My feet are curling remembering the blisters these gave me back in 2004 when they were last in style 😂” another added.

“The sweat, the blisters, the heat. Ummmm hard no,” said another.
