Roxy Jacenko reveals favourite things to do with family on the weekend
PR queen Roxy Jacenko calls her renovated full floor home gym an “amazing luxury” and says it gives her a reason to work out at least five times a week.
Sydney Weekend
Don't miss out on the headlines from Sydney Weekend. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Given her busy schedule during the week, PR queen Roxy Jacenko would be forgiven for skipping exercise on weekends but Saturdays start bright and early, just like every other day of the week. Then it’s dedicated family time and plenty of shared meals, as Jacenko and husband Oliver make the most of two free days with kids Pixie and Hunter.
Early riser or Saturday sleep-in?
Early riser, I love to start the day with a spin class followed by breakfast with my husband, Oliver at Indigo, Double Bay.
Best place to go on a Saturday with the kids?
Saturday is always family dinner night as Oli lives in Tasmania Monday to Friday, so come Saturday we head to Marta in Rushcutters Bay for an early dinner. It’s the most incredible Italian food and the location is great for kids, as there is a large forecourt where they can run around after dinner.
Favourite park?
We love Lynne Park in Rose Bay, the backdrop is Sydney Harbour and the equipment is fantastic, complete with a flying fox.
Local coffee haunt?
Pre-gym Monday to Friday you will find me at Rocco’s in Vaucluse for a 6.45am coffee takeaway, then during the day you cannot go past Wolff in Paddington, it’s a hole-in-the-wall with a great community feel.
Best spot for date night?
We have so many fantastic food offerings in Sydney, at the moment we love heading to Matteo, as there is a real buzz, great music and excellent drinks.
Favourite takeaway?
Washoku Vaucluse is a regular haunt for us, Japanese is one of our favourite cuisines and this venue has takeaway that is just like being in Japan at one of the many top-notch restaurants.
Where and when do you exercise?
I train Monday to Friday at 7am at home. When we renovated our home we put in a full floor gym, complete with Technogym and Peleton equipment, as well as an infra-red sauna. It’s an amazing luxury and it means I have NO excuse not to be active! On Saturdays I join a group of friends for a 7am spin class at Shelter in Double Bay. It takes two days to recover but it’s great fun.
Best hidden treasure in NSW?
We love Wolgan Valley, there is something really special about the property and while only three hours from Sydney it is like you are far away. The service is world class and the accommodation is incredible.
Favourite place to holiday?
You cannot beat the Whitsundays. Qualia is very special and somewhere we visit whenever we get a gap in schedules. The food on Hamilton Island is brilliant and having a golf buggy to get around is great fun.
What’s your idea of the perfect Saturday?
Being at home with Pixie and Hunter. We all lead super busy lives between work and school that come Saturday I love to be at home doing arts and craft, swimming and playing with our pets – family time on the weekend is something I look forward to.
