How to score free meat at Woolworths

The mum, who shared her story in Facebook group Mums On A Budget, revealed that she managed to walk away with $11.35 beef rump steaks because the helpful and kind employee gave her a special sticker that would allow her to skip the cost at the checkout.

The sticker read "Team Member Purchase" and was placed over the barcode of the steak packets, which were well before their best before date.

"Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but when we were at Woolies today, a staff member chased us down and stuck this sticker over the barcode of some steak we had in our trolley," the mum shared on social media.

"He then told us it would be free at check out and it was! I wonder if this is a new campaign they have going, but it was honestly so so appreciated."

Be nice to the staff at Woolies!

With the supermarket secret out, many shoppers were stunned that this was an actual thing that happens.

"Amazing," one customer simply wrote.

"Brb doing all my shopping at woolies now," another added.

And another said: "I want that to happen to my whole trolly."

While some said it sounded a little too good to be true, or something that's not completely above board, others insisted it was definitely legit.

"It’s not a scam or staff doing the dodgy! It’s a random act of kindness. The managers would communicate to all staff how/what/when they’d be doing it so all staff would be aware. The check seal would be over the barcode to prevent it being scanned by CO or to advise self serve staff," one person shared.

Others also shared it has also happened to them in the past.
