A reality television star burst into tears after looking at photos of herself as a teenager, after feeling like she needed to get surgery due to public scrutiny.

Chloe Ferry was 19 when she rose to fame on popular reality TV series Geordie Shore. The show followed young people from Newcastle, England, as they navigated partying, work and romance — all while living together.

Ferry, who is now 29, had no cosmetic surgery when she was approached by scouters for the show. However, she soon felt pushed into having procedures such as a breast lift, a Brazilian Bum Lift and a rhinoplasty.

“Bare in mind, I actually thought I looked OK. I was quite confident. I didn’t care. I was just there for a good time,” she told the We Need To Talk podcast about joining the long-running series.

Ferry said the only surgery she’d ever contemplated at this point was lip filler, but nothing else had ever crossed her mind. The comments about her appearance started to weigh on her. The TV personality said she started to believe she was “ugly”, “fat” and her “nose was too big”.

A set of pictures saw people claim Ferry had “saggy boobs”, and she decided to get breast implants. She thought if she got them done, the comments would stop. But the opposite happened. People started to pick on every aspect of her appearance. Ferry told podcast host Paul Carrick Brunson the experience was “soul destroying”.

When Brunson showed Ferry images of herself before her procedures, she burst into tears and said all she wanted to do was go back to being that young woman.

“Surgery is such a dark hole. Once you get something done, you think you’re going to be happy but you’re not. You go down this rabbit hole where you think about things to improve,” she said.

Ferry said the surgeries only pushed her further away from who she was.

Straight away, she realised she needed to have her Brazillian Butt Lift reversed to feel the most like herself as it was “massive”. She called it a “step in the right direction”, saying in the final year of her 20s all she wanted to do was get back to her old self.

A Brazillian Bum Lift sees surgeons remove fat from other parts of your body to augment your buttock appearance. However there are several risks to the surgery — including death. The Cleveland Clinic warned: “Your butt contains many blood vessels and nerves. If the cannula strikes any of these structures during the surgery, it can lead to injury, a fat embolism or death.”

Other risks include bruising, infections, swelling, poor wound healing and skin discolouration.

Ferry recently shared a clip to her own TikTok account where she tried on jeans for the first time after having her BBL removed. She said she was “so happy” with the decision and felt “more proportioned”.

“I look more like me,” she said, adding that not all the fat was removed due to it being too close to her muscle.

The young woman was clearly overjoyed with her return to her old appearance. When trying on a pair of jeans, she said the trousers never used to go past her hips due to her BBL. Now, they fit properly.

“It’s the best decision that I’ve ever made,” Ferry said.

Ferry’s biggest piece of advice for anyone contemplating surgery was to not rush into it, do your research and ask your family their opinion. She said she would hate to think that she influenced anyone to get cosmetic surgery. Ferry said she herself was waiting before she committed to any more surgery reversals.

In addition to reversing her cosmetic surgery, Ferry has also started seeing a therapist and getting back to nature.

Thousands of fans gave an outpouring of love and support to Ferry.

“You are inspiring me to make massive changes for my own health and happiness this year,” one said.

One said: “I watched your podcast and literally made me cry. How you feel is literally feels like me I want so much surgery but I can’t afford it. But you have changed my mind.”

“You are brilliant,” another said.
