Acclaimed veterinarian Dr. Lewis Hunt will switch the clinic for the Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park this Sunday to champion Greyhounds As Pets’ (GAP) biggest National Adoption Day yet.
Hunt, whose popularity soared after serving a season on reality TV series Bondi Vet, has come on board in an ambassadorial role to endorse just what wonderful companions greyhounds make as pets in retirement.
“I’m really looking forward to being on hand Sunday for what should be a wonderful day,” Dr. Hunt, co-owner of Seaforth Vets, said.
“In my profession I get to see first hand what robust, beautiful pets greyhounds make and I think we are quickly breaking down any misconceptions that are out there.
“When I was living in the UK I witnessed their adoption program really take off and we are starting to see the same thing happen here now.
“Greyhounds are lean, clean and for the most part just want to laze around. A few walks a day and they’re set.
“I urge anyone toying with the idea of adoption to get down to Moore Park on Sunday and see for yourself and be involved in a great day.”
Kicking off at 10am and running through until 4pm, Sunday’s National Adoption Day will see 50 greyhounds on site in search of their forever home.
And in a bid to ease cost of living pressures, the adoption fee has been slashed to just $75.00, which includes vet checks, vaccinations a collar, lead and more.
“The team at GAP have made the day a real celebration,” Dr. Hunt added.
“There’s competitions, activities for the kids, stall and the ‘Dogs In The Park’ best dressed event. There really is something for everyone.”
