What better way to celebrate your birthday than eating a berry special treat?
For the Indian Star tortoise affectionately known as Tiny Tim, a strawberry half his size was the perfect way to celebrate his second birthday at the Australian Reptile Park.
And the birthday boy was spoiled scored another special treat later on, receiving his very own three-tier birthday cake from Reptile Keeper Imogen Hall.
“When I gifted Tiny Tim his miniature cake, I could see the excitement in his eyes,” Ms Hall said.
“Watermelon, blueberries, hibiscus and of course strawberries are his favourite, so it was the perfect choice to celebrate his special day. It’s safe to say that he absolutely loved his cake.”
Tiny Tim has been a resident at the Australian Reptile Park since 2022, but has fans right across the globe after a video of him chowing down on another strawberry for his first birthday went viral online.
With two years down, this cute internet sensation has many more birthdays to come.
Sadly, Tiny Tim’s species is currently listed as ‘Vulnerable’ by the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Red List, as numbers of those in the wild are in decline.
Found primarily in India and Sri Lanka, they are one of the smallest tortoise species in the world and due to their cute size, are victims of illegal pet trade.
In 2019, the United Nations Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) banned the illegal trading of the species.
