Greyhounds As Pets readying for a bumper speed dating event on Saturday where 40 greyhounds will be up for adoption

The scene is set for a bumper Valentine’s Speed Dating Adoption Day on Saturday with over 40 greyhounds looking for love at Greyhounds As Pets HQ at Londonderry.

Valentine’s Day may have been and gone but for those still searching for love, Greyhounds As Pets HQ at Londonderry is the place to be this Saturday.

Between 10am and 3pm the Greyhounds As Pets team will stage its hugely popular Valentine’s Speed Dating Event where more than 40 retired greyhounds will be on the hunt for their “forever home”.

The purpose of speed dating is to find that instant spark and that’s no different on Saturday with potential adoptees encouraged to spend one-on-one time with as many greyhounds as possible to find that perfect match.

“I meet many singles, couples and families at our adoption events seeking greyhound companionship, having heard about the amazing pets greyhounds are from their friends who have the perfectly matched greyhound in their lives,” said Greyhounds As Pets’ Jamie Palmer.

“Greyhounds thrive on human interaction and form deep bonds with their owners, providing emotional support, fun and companionship. They can sense and respond to their owners’ emotions, offering comfort, attention, and a new adventurous purpose.

“I’d encourage people from all walks of life to attend our Speed Dating Day to see what wonderful pets greyhounds make.”

Warm, loving and loyal to a fault, the success stories stemming from greyhound adoption are endless.

They include successful personal stylist Erin Paige Stevenson who says adopting Harry and Pixie (pictured) has proven to be a godsend.

“They keep me busy but seriously, it’s all joy,” the Woollahra-based Stevenson said.

“I can’t even describe the bond that’s been created and the more time you invest with them, the more they will trust you and reveal their personalities.

“I think back to before I had them and wonder how on earth I coped without them. Just amazing companions.”
