'They said it was last minute, but everyone else was there'

“Part of me thinks I’m being dramatic, but at the same time I’ve been a last-minute thought my entire life as the middle child."

I invited 27 kids to my daughter's birthday and no one showed up

A woman has pulled on the internet’s heartstrings after revealing she was the only member of her family who wasn’t invited to a nephew’s birthday party.

The woman took to TikTok to tell her story, and was visibly upset throughout the video.

She said she has a sister who lives four hours away from her home in the US state of Washington with a fiance and their son.

“I didn’t get to see them for Christmas,” The woman, only known as ‘Kizzi’, said.

“My nephew just had a birthday, he turned three, so I go on Facebook this morning and see photos and videos of his birthday party.

“At first I thought it was just the fiance’s family because they live in that town, and then I see three of my siblings, additional nieces and nephews, and I hear my parents.”

"They were able to make the drive, why couldn't I?"

Kizzi was shocked that she apparently didn’t receive an insight, as her parents only live “five minutes down the road” from her.

When she called her sister to ask, she was told it was “last minute” and they didn’t think she’d be able to make it.

“I live five minutes down the road from my parents,” Kizzi said.

“They were able to make the drive, so why couldn’t I?

“(My sister) is crying on the phone, saying she’s so sorry and she didn’t even think about it.”

The woman then says she doesn’t blame her sister, as she has “a lot on her plate too”, but instead blames the rest of her family for “not checking in with me”.

“Part of me thinks I’m being dramatic, but at the same time I’ve been a last-minute thought my entire life as the middle child,” she said.

“You’re just overlooked all the time, and it’s still true even in my adulthood.”

"You deserve better"

Viewers of the video reassured the woman that she wasn’t being dramatic.

“The way I would ghost them for months,” one woman wrote. “You are valid.”

“My husband is a middle child too and often gets left out of family things,” a second woman wrote. “You deserve better.”

“Even if she thought you wouldn’t be able to make it, she should have told you,” another person wrote. “My sister is around eight hours away, and I still send her a birthday invite.”

Other people believed the sister was lying about the reason Kizzi wasn’t invited.

“‘Lack of planning’, but yet everyone’s there?” one person asked. “Nah, you aren’t being dramatic.”

“‘I didn’t even think’ is horrible,” another person said. “She didn’t think about you as existing?”
