The reason the mum leaves her toddler at home

The mum, Teng, from Zhejiang province in eastern China says she leaves her daughter at home while she works in the restaurant next door that she runs.

She says she does this as she's "too busy" to look after her while at work.

Per the South China Morning PostTeng believes her toddler can "take care of herself" as she's seemingly very independent for her age, a quality she's witnessed through video surveillance cameras.

The mum said that she watches her on the cameras to make sure there are no problems, but her daughter seems to manage herself remarkably well and there haven't been any issues.

From getting out of bed, having a bottle of milk, using the potty and drinking from a water bottle, she navigated her home with a level of competence that surprised many viewers who watched the clip.

"I have discovered that she remembers every word I tell her. I feel gratified," she told the publication.

She added that she feels safe leaving her alone as the restaurant was "right next door."

"Don't have kids if you have no time to take care of them"

Unsurprisingly, Teng's unconventional parenting choice triggered a range of reactions on social media.

Many emphasised the potential dangers of leaving a toddler alone, even momentarily.

"What happens if something unexpected takes place?" one commenter questioned.

"This is so dangerous," someone else echoed.

Then this person raised another point, "Is leaving kids home alone legal?"

"Oh my God! What kind of a two-year-old fairy baby is this?" another person replied.

One person took the criticism even further, slamming the mum and saying, "Don't have kids if you have no time to take care of them."

"This is so irresponsible," wrote another. "What if there's an accident and the mum is serving a customer?"

"A two-year-old is not equipped to handle urgent situations," chimed in a different viewer.

On the other hand, a fellow mum said, "My daughter is as mature as this little girl. I'm very moved."
