Exclusive: Two winners have taken home a whopping $40 million each in Tuesday night’s Oz Lotto $80 million draw.

The two division one winners are both from Queensland and were the only division one winners nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1323.

One of the winners, a mother from Ipswich, laughed with disbelief after hearing confirmation she is $40 million richer.

The other division winner, a man from the Sunshine Coast, said he was shocked but “extremely excited and grateful”.

The winning numbers were 42, 35, 29, 19, 36, 14 and 25, while the supplementary numbers were 13 and 1.

One in four Australians were expected to buy a ticket for Oz Lotto’s historic $80 million draw — which was the highest jackpot the game has reached in seven years.

Now, experts have revealed how each ball is carefully analysed checked to ensure it has an equal chance of being drawn.

Each ball undergoes independent testing before it is used.

Experts from the National Measurement Institute in Brisbane weigh each lottery ball.

The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer told News Corp Australia the testing verifies the balls are of equal weight and adhere to the strict required weight standards.

The weight of the balls are checked once a year under the close supervision of government officials.

National Measurement Institute National Trade Measurement Services Manager Malcolm Bartlett said the Institute ensured all measurements used in Australia were accurate and correct.

“The process in weighing the new lottery balls is we weigh them on a very fine balance to an extremely accurate measurement so that we ensure all balls are within tolerance of what they’re meant to be,” he said.

“It’s very important that all the balls have an equal chance of actually coming out in the draw.”

The National Measurement Insitute weighs the balls at the request of the Lott to make sure each ball weights within the same small range.

After weighing them, they then provide a report to the Lott confirming the weight of each ball to within one-thousandth of a gram.

“The equal weight of the balls ensure they each have an equal chance of being drawn by the lottery draw machine,” Ms Spencer said.

For those who may speculate about whether the measurements are accurate, the National Measurement Institue said the scales used at the Brisbane Trade Measurement lab have been calibrated to the Australian standard kilogram.

The Australian standard is kept under special conditions at the National Measurement Institute’s headquarters in Sydney and is checked regularly to make sure it matches with the international weight standard in Paris.

As for the luckiest entries to the $80 million draw, Ms Spencer said that recent data analysis revealed the entry type that wins Oz Lotto division one the most is a System 8 marked entry. The second was a 50-game QuickPick.

A six-game quickpick and a four-game marked entry both tied in third place.

In the 12 months to June 30 last year, 74 million winners took home a total of $2.7 billion in prize money from their favourite games which include Saturday Lotto, Monday and Wednesday Lotto, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno and Instant Scratch-Its.
