They're a classic item that even children of the 80s and 90s grew up with. A set of farm animals has provided hours and hours of entertainment for decades. And if you were lucky, you got a set with some additional fences to really set up the scene.
But after purchasing the classic set from Kmart recently, one NSW mum was left scratching her head.

Kmart, what kind of farm is this?
NSW Mum Kylie* purchased the 60 Piece Farm Animals Adventure Set from the bargain retailer for $19 for her animal-loving toddler. But when she received her online order, what was inside the box wasn't quite what you'd expect to see on your typical farm.
According to the toy description, the 60-piece set includes traditional farm animals such as cows, pigs, horses, chickens, pigs, goats, etc.
"Your little one will enjoy hours of imaginative playtime with this farm animals set," the description reads online.
But what was inside Kylie's purchase included a range of wild and exotic animals that would likely view our beloved farm animals as dinner.
"It had a mixture of different animals from a flamingo to a cheetah," the mum told Kidspot.
"I originally thought I had bought the wrong item so went to check my e-receipt, but quickly noticed it wasn't a consumer error."

"Oh no, no cow!"
A gift for her toddler daughter, the mum wasn't sure what her next steps would be - to complain and get her money back or just keep the animals - until she saw that her daughter was also confused by the animals included.
"She did notice and said: 'Oh no, no cow!'" she shared.
Kylie did eventually reach out to Kmart to clear up the error.
"I contacted Kmart via live chat, was connected straight away. I sent the photos through and confirmed my order number," she explains.

A quick resolution
While they didn't explain what might've caused the error, it didn't take long for her to get a resolution from the store.
"I received an apology and a refund pretty quickly," she shared, somewhat satisfied with the result.
The farm animal set is part of a series of similar sets of other animals, including a tub of wild animals. There are also ocean animals and Australian animals on offer.
One can only assume that there was a mix-up at the factory before this tub landed on Kmart's shelves, or another pesky toddler got to the shelf while mum was shopping and someone mixed up the animals when tidying things up!
