Nadia Bartel, other ambassadors deleted from Melbourne Cup Carnival website

Nadia Bartel was front and centre at last year’s Melbourne Cup - now she’s been removed from the event’s website, alongside other former ambassadors.

Nadia Bartel has been removed from the Melbourne Cup website.

The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) had issued a statement confirming the “businesswoman and fashion identity” as the face of the major racing event last year, however it has since been removed from the page.

Nadia was announced as the ambassador for the Melbourne Cup Carnival on October 3, 2020, with a press release detailing her partnership, but users who attempt to access it just get redirected to a ‘404 Not Found’ error message.

Bartel is not the only ambassador whose release has been removed, with all the 2020 ambassadors no longer appearing on the site, suggesting the move to delete Nadia’s profile is unrelated to her recent public struggles.

Bartel’s disappearance on the VCR website coincides with the Spring Racing Carnival’s new partnership with fellow Melbourne WAG, Jessie Murphy.

Jessie, who is the wife of former Carlton captain Marc Murphy, has partnered with the organisation to promote the welfare of racehorses.

On Wednesday, the 30-year-old shared an Instagram post explaining how excited she is to take on the role.

“Marc and I have always loved going to the races for the Victorian @springcarnival. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting dressed up and enjoy being trackside with great company, but this year I’ve committed to learning more about the real stars of the track, the horses,” she wrote.

“We are partnering with @springcarnival to get a view of what goes on behind the scenes to ensure horse welfare is paramount. Not just for Spring, but all year round and after retirement.”

Alongside her post, Jesse shared various snaps of herself in glamorous gowns from previous Melbourne Cup events.

Ahead of this year’s racing event – which begins Saturday, October 30 and ends on November 6 – documents published on the VRC website stress the same strict fashion guidelines apply to its members, despite the limited crowd numbers in 2021.

Rules for permitted attire inside the highly regarded members areas such as the Birdcage include “no garments which show midriff” as well as a ban on short jumpsuits and playsuits.

Other garments deemed “not acceptable” at the members areas inside Flemington include jeans, shorts and leggings as well as “ripped” clothing and bulky jackets like parkas and duffel coats.

Nadia, who last year described the Cup as “the highlight of my year”, has been a regular attendee of the event, often being praised for her fashion style at the event.

However, it is not known whether the influencer will be attending this year’s carnival.

The mother-of-two has only just recently returned to Instagram after laying low for six-weeks following a video that emerged of her “snorting” a white substance from a Kmart plate.
