Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have confirmed their breakup.

“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting,” representatives for the former couple said in a joint statement to Page Six on Thursday.

“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”

New beginnings

It comes as Bloom took to social media to share a cryptic message about a “new beginning” just days after whispers of his break-up with the singer came to light.

“The important thing is to take that first step,” the actor wrote on his Instagram Story also on Monday.

“Bravely overcoming one small fear gives you the courage to take on the next.”

Bloom, 48, credited the quote as his “daily encouragement” from Buddhist author Daisaku Ikeda.

Before sharing Ikeda’s quote, the Pirates of the Caribbean star also shared a quote from Buddha.

“Each day is a new beginning. What we do today is what matters the most,” the quote read, which Bloom soundtracked to James Quinn’s A Gentle Sunlight.

The couple’s break-up marks the end of one of Hollywood’s most high-profile relationships, which also came to an end while she was touring Australia.

Bloom already moved on to attend the star-studded wedding of Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez in Venice on the weekend.

At the lavish nuptials, Bloom was seen linking up with Tom Brady and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The group buddied up with the Kardashians and Sydney Sweeney at their hotel following the reception, TMZ reported.

The break-up also drags Perry and Bloom’s daughter, Daisy Dove, into the middle of the picture and raises questions on how the two will co-parent their four-year-old child.

A source told People the California Girls singer, 40, is adjusting to her new role as a single mother.

“She never saw herself being a single mom,” the source said.

“She’s felt a lot of pressure about her tour and now this. It’s been a lot for her. She’s still doing great though.”

A mega fortune split... what's next?

With Perry boasting an eye-watering $A611 million ($US400 million) net worth, and Bloom a massive $A61.1 million ($US40 million), both are very wealthy within their own right.

However, all eyes will be on what agreement they come to on the $A21.6 million mansion in Montecito, California the couple bought in 2020.

Bloom also spent $A7.6 million on Perry’s engagement ring, according to reports from E! News and Us Weekly.

Perry was spotted without it, another sign that had stirred speculation the pair had split.

She was seen without it as recently as this week, where Perry was without her eye-catching floral-inspired ruby engagement ring in her latest Instagram post.

Contributing to Bloom’s net worth is another mansion for $A10.6 million he bought in Beverly Hills in 2017, which he sold for $A13.7 million and earned a $A3 million dollar profit.

He also raked in $A267,000 ($A89,000 per movie) across all Lord of the Rings films, $A18 million for both Pirates of the Caribbean movies and made $A4.5 million on Elizabethtown and $A1.5 million on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Bloom and Perry also bought the apple cider vinegar producer, Bragg Live Food Products, along with three other investors in 2019.

Meanwhile, Perry cut a huge deal in 2023 which contributed massively to her net worth, which included selling the rights to her music catalogue for a reported $A343 million.

Her touring revenue, especially from her Witness tour in 2017–2018 grossed over $A311 million globally.

A promising start

The pair first met at a Golden Globes after party on January 10, 2016.

The signs were bright as in May of that year, they made their relationship Instagram official after attending the Cannes Film Festival where Perry posted a photo of her and Bloom laying on the steps of the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France, with the caption: “We cannes’t.”

In February 2017, the couple broke up, with fans speculating that they split when they arrived separately at the annual Vanity Fair Oscars party and didn’t spend much time together at the event. A statement from both of their representatives at the time said they are “taking respectful, loving space at this time.”

They got back together, and then on Valentine’s Day in 2019, Bloom proposed to Perry.

The couple then moved in together a month later and announced the pregnancy of their first child about a year later after having to postpone their wedding which was originally planned for early summer 2020 in Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rumours that the pair were in trouble first surfaced after Perry had told friends in January of this year that her relationship with Bloom was as good as over and they had unsuccessfully been trying to save their romance, according to The Sun.

“They decided to hold off on announcing anything in case things improved between them, because they are desperate to stay together for the sake of their daughter. But they have spent barely any time together this year, with Katy on tour and Orlando working on his upcoming film Bucking Fastard in Dublin,” a source told the British newspaper.
