Mums $4 Kmart hack solves common nappy problem

It promises to be less messy, more hygienic and way easier, especially when it comes to bringing it to daycare.

Nurse says taking home nappies from the hospital is 'literally illegal'

As parents, any little tip or trick that will make our lives easier can feel like a Godsend.

That's why an Aussie mum has been praised online for sharing her simple yet game-changing solution to a common nappy-changing issue.

Shared on the popular Kmart Home Decor and Hacks Australia Facebook page, her hack involves a $4 Kmart purchase that makes the whole process less messy, more hygienic and way easier, especially when it comes to daycare.

It's a dupe of a popular nappy rash brand's design

The mum wrote, "Thought of this idea after I saw b.box have the same container for their nappy cream but I prefer sudo like most," she began, referencing the $14.99 b.box Nappy Barrier Cream.

She then shares photos showing how she decanted the Sudocrem into the $4 Airless Pump Container from Kmart, which is designed for carrying travel toiletries like creams and serums.

The container features a plunger that effortlessly squeezes out just the right amount of cream, and allows you to pump and swipe using just one hand.

She said it was an easy process, as she just used a spoon to scoop out the Sudocrem and transfer it to the Kmart container.

"I thought [the cream] would be too thick. Good news, it’s not!" she exclaims. "It works great. Saves taking a big tub to daycare and the educators sticking their fingers through it. I have been looking for these containers for months though and only just found them."

Not only is this a great idea for daycare, but the tip would be great at home too!

"Total gamechanger"

The feedback from the group was overwhelmingly positive, as grateful mums shared their thanks for the tip.

"What a brilliant idea. Great hack," one fellow mum wrote.

"This will help not getting cream under your nails too! Genius!" said another.

"Total game-changer," someone else declared. "Hopefully this will stop my toddler from opening the Sudo cream and smearing it everywhere!"

"Nice tip! I can remember how hard it was trying to get that cream out of the tub and trying to hold a nappy and baby all at once."

Then some people suggested buying Sudocrem in tube form, as it seemingly solves the same problem. Or, as one woman suggested, "buy a baby bum cream spatula as it fits in the Sudo container nicely."

People raised some concerns about the hack

However, a few people had some concerns about the mum's hack.

"Unfortunately, I don't think this will be accepted by your daycare as it doesn't have a list of ingredients or an original label," one wrote.

But the OP replied, "Our daycare doesn't have an issue with it."

Meanwhile, a daycare worker said, "We don't stick our fingers in the creams! We wear gloves," but people pointed out that "you can't ensure the same standard is happening everywhere."

And lastly, this person questioned, "You have to provide your own nappy cream at daycare?"

"Sometimes," one mum replied. "My daycare provides but if you want a specific brand used, then you need to provide."
