Who Magdalena Roze Where On the Northern Rivers of NSW with husband Darren Robertson and their two young children. Favourite thing I love a cup of tea and I really think the vessel makes a difference. This (Brooke Clunie mug) has been created by a local potter and is my favourite to drink out of. Inspiration We’re currently renovating our home into our dream beach house. Home is A place with good energy.

As someone who famously left the big smoke in favour of regional NSW, former TV meteorologist Magdalena Roze is all-for taking a leap of faith.

“Trust your gut and try not to overthink it, as you’ll always find a reason why it might not work. Embrace and give back to the community you join – the people and their connectedness is what makes regional areas so special,” she says. Together with her husband, Three Blue Ducks restaurant owner Darren Robertson, Magdalena is renovating the family home by the beach. “Having the beach so close by is our tonic. We made some cosmetic changes internally when we first moved in, painting walls and floors, and adding a few of our own touches to the kitchen but we’ve just started on a major renovation, which means we’re currently cooking out of a makeshift kitchen. Rather than gaining extra room or space, the purpose of the renovation has been to add character. ”

Magdalena, who is also the co-creator of the umami Oomite spread, says gratefully, her pace of life is now slower. “Our favourite place is the garden. We love having a cup of tea or glass of wine around our veggie garden and cooking around the firepit. The kids get involved and some of my favourite family memories are here.”

I got this for Darren one Christmas, but I’m not sure who loves it more. It’s quite a rare shot and it shows the band having a relaxed, candid moment at a friend’s house. Every time I look at it I notice a new detail.
