Little-known Aussie supermarket sells products for 80% off

The ultra-cheap chain is great for stocking up on pantry essentials, laundry staples and organic and gluten-free goodies.

Supermarket trend completely destroys single aisle

Australian households are reducing their cost of living by heading to a little-known discount warehouse that offers groceries at up to 80% off.

NQR (Not Quite Right) operates 27 locations across South Australia and Victoria and sources its stock from manufacturers, offering products close to their best-before dates and overproduced items.

As a result, fresh food is not available in their stores, but shoppers can nab a range of household staples and non-perishable items like rice, lentils, snacks and sauces.

The ultra-cheap supermarket

The latest deals feature Red Rock Deli chips priced at $2, 1kg of Yoplait mango yogurt for $3 and 1kg of Bertocci bacon for $12.

"We're the cheapest supermarket in Australia," CEO Ewan Jones told The Daily Mail.

"We pride ourselves on getting the price right for our customers and NQR is the best for snacks and freezer foods. We sell yoghurt for $1 and it's $7 at other supermarkets."

He continued, "Our goal is to help the customer who is struggling. You can really stock up on chips and drinks - it's cheaper across the board than any other supermarket.

"If I was a customer I'd shop at NQR first and get my deals before I buy fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat elsewhere.

"The amount of money you save really adds up."

"Overwhelmed with the value on offer"

Shoppers have particularly raved about the markdowns on gluten-free and dairy-free products, which typically have a much higher price in other major supermarkets because of dietary restrictions.

On Reddit, one person wrote, "I've only just started shopping [at NQR] but I'm overwhelmed with the value on offer. They just go where no major supermarket chain goes, including ALDI."

"Currently feasting on two buckets of noodles for $1.20 and a tub organic yogurt for $3.50. You can also pick up three packets of rice crackers for $1, they retail for $2.20 at Woolworths," claimed someone else.

"Love NQR, I have the only sweet tooth in the family so I get all my supplies from there. They often get Ben and Jerrys runout flavours and have them as low as $3 a tub," a third chimed in.

"I buy my bulk staples here. There should be more of these stores!" a fourth suggested.

Then others provided words of wisdom for shopping at the discount store.

"The biggest thing to remember here is that if you see something you want, buy it immediately. They often have short date and end of run stock and you can't rely on it still being there next week, or ever available again," said one.

"I've lost count of the times my wife has seen something here (or at the reject shop), then decided a day later to get it only to find it gone and never to be seen again at those prices," someone else wrote.
