She is a regular fixture in the front row so it’s no wonder Lily-Rose Depp is one of the most influential names in Hollywood when it comes to “it” girl style.
Whether it’s wearing head-to-toe Chanel in Marseille, France, as she did in May for the luxury brand’s cruise collection … or at the helm of last year’s headline-making series The Idol, playing pop star ingenue “Jocelyn” (Depp, of course, sang the series’ anthem, World Class Sinner and its haunting lyrics), her fashion and beauty looks are coveted.
“I’m a lifelong Chanel girl,” she told Vogue Australia in a recent interview, referencing the house for which she has served as a long-time muse.
And search #LilyRoseDepp makeup on TikTok, and the results are in the millions, spanning her most recent outings with Chanel, to its beauty campaigns – and even on the runway, which she once walked as a model and source of inspo for the late Karl Largerfeld.
As for the latest chapter in her long association with Chanel? Depp fronts the brand’s summer 2024 makeup collection campaign, dubbed “Jardin Imaginaire”, sporting fresh-faced glamour by Ammy Drammeh, one of Chanel’s global makeup creative partners and a member of its famed Cometes Collective.
Taking inspo from nature and channelling a dreamlike garden, the technicolour spectrum of fauna, the summer-inspired range features electric green, luminous orange, fuchsia pink and violet blue tones.
A standout is the limited edition Baume Essential hues in Moonlight Kiss and Solar Glow, which – as Drammeh explains – were formulated to bring summer to any season.
“The Moonlight Kiss shade is a rose gold that adorns the cheeks with a radiant, luminous glow,” Drammeh explains.
“A multi-use colourway ideal for every day, it can be worn on the tops of the cheekbones as well as on the brow bone, the nose and the inner corner of the eyelids.
“Solar Glow is a surprising coppery bronze. On darker skin, its warm nuances elevate the complexion.
“On lighter skin, it highlights the skin with a tan sheen that is perfect for the summer season.”
Meantime, Depp’s next big screen role will be in the gothic thriller Nosferatu, based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, Dracula, alongside Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Nicholas Hoult, due out later this year.
And while the blinding lights of Hollywood continue to beckon, Depp is adamant that “fame has never been something that I have been interested in”. “I can’t really understand people who are interested in that, you know?”
As Depp mused to Vogue, “I feel like the luckiest person in the world because I get to do for a living the thing I love the most, the thing that makes me feel the most fulfilled and the most inspired.
“I get to put all of my emotions into something beautiful, into something creative, something purposeful. I feel really lucky to get to do that, whatever comes from that, even if it’s negative sometimes, to me is a small price to pay to get to do what I do.”
