'I want to leave': Disaster final MAFS episode leaves viewers with unanswered questions

It seemed Tori would have been more comfortable with the ground swallowing her whole than watching her time on the experiment... and um, who is this new Cass, and where has our smiling, sweet bride run off to?

Jono and Ellie MAFS debut causes tears and chaos

Well, that was a pretty disappointing end to the Married at First Sight season, if you ask me.

It seems the show’s producers decided to put all their Lauren and Sara eggs in one basket, and I think many viewers (myself included) will be left wanting after the final episode.

The final dinner party

The drama naturally unfolded at the final dinner party when Jono ‘frolicked’ in with former bride, Ellie, and it seems from then that was all the camera focused on.

Jono was put in the firing line at the dinner table when he was ripped apart by fellow contestants for his new relationship after denying having any feelings for Ellie previously.

Taking a page from Tori’s book, Jono decided to deflect the unwanted attention and revealed that Tim had confided in him that had he been given more time to deliberate, he may have chosen a different path into final vows.

As you can imagine, Sara did not take this well, and we began chasing the couple around the Grounds of Alexandria as they argued about the stability of their relationship.

Who are you, and what happened to Cass?

While Tim and Sara were able to patch things up in time for the final reunion couch sessions, it seemed Cass had a bit of a bee in her bonnet about the couple.

And, ahh, it was very confusing?

Some have nicknamed Cass the smiling assassin, and it was totally out of character for her to call Sara a liar and a nasty person.

Sara was confused by these accusations by Cass, and, to be honest, so was I.

We were given no context regarding whether something had previously happened between the two. It was dealt with, and we moved on without an explanation.

Perhaps Cass has underlying feelings for Tim and felt Sara wasn’t worthy of such a match- especially given she was paired with a husband who needed 5-7 business days to schedule a kiss.

“I want to leave”

When it was time for Tori and Jack to hit the couch, we knew it wouldn’t be smooth sailing.

When watching the couple’s journey recapped before their fellow cast and experts, it seemed Tori would have been more comfortable with the idea of the ground opening her up and swallowing her whole than watching her time on the experiment.

After ensuring months of scrutiny (most times absolutely warranted), Tori decided she had had enough of the experiment and simply stood up and walked out the door, leaving everyone stunned.

Judging by the pair’s Instagram account, the two are still together despite the constant odds stacked against them.

Rushed through the rest

The finale then saw Jayden and Eden, still together, followed by Lucinda and Tim, not together but there could be a possibility.

As for everybody else, we’ll never know.

Where was our psychic friend?

Fans were left puzzled as former Home and Away actress turned psychic medium Madeleine Jevic, now known as Madeleine Maxwell, was nowhere to be seen or even mentioned.

While her TV husband Ash Galati made an appearance, Madeleine's absence raised eyebrows among viewers.

According to So Dramatic!, one insider revealed Madeleine “rang production and asked if she could attend”.

“She wanted to go,” they informed.

“They had a conversation around her attending the Reunion under certain conditions, but Madeleine wouldn’t agree to their terms, so they told her she wasn’t allowed to go.”

However, according to Pedestrian, it was a different story.

“Most people in production thought that Madeleine struggled with the pressures of the experiment during filming, so it felt easier not to bring her back – especially for a dinner party that was inevitably going to be an intense one from the start,” Pedestrian revealed.

Another source added that “virtually no cast members have had any contact with Madeleine” since her abrupt exit from the show, and it’s “as if she was never” on the show at all.

Well, as another season of MAFS wraps up for the year, we wonder of the couples who made it to the end of the experiment will survive much longer in the real world.
