IT WAS the news the world had always suspected — Hitler had a small deformed appendage.

News of the former German dictator’s condition made headlines and sent the internet into a spin.

But the historian behind the claim has revealed the real reason behind his small manhood.

According to the Daily Star, medical records following the Nazi Party leader’s arrest in 1923 suggest he suffered “right-side cryptorchidism”, which is the medical name for an undescended testicle.

New records show the fascist leader also had a related condition called hypospadias — which can leave the sufferer with a “micro-penis”, The Sun reported.

Hypospadias sufferers may be forced to urinate out of a small hole at the base, or shaft of the penis, rather than at the tip.

In new book Hitler’s Last Day: Minute by Minute, historians Jonathan Mayo and Emma Craigie contend the Nazi leader kept the dark secret close to him.

“Hitler himself is believed to have had two forms of genital abnormality: an undescended testicle and a rare condition called penile hypospadias in which the urethra opens on the underside of the penis,” they wrote.

But while medical records apparently reveal Hitler had deformed genitalia, Ms Craigie rejected the claim he had a micro-penis.

In an interview with UK news site The Independent, Ms Craigie said the micro-penis reports should be taken cautiously.

She said the suggestion Hitler had a micro-penis because he potentially suffered from hypospadias was a “leap”.

Ms Craigie also maintained she had not seen any evidence to suggest anything more than general hypospadias.

The birth defect means the urethra forms at the bottom of the penis as opposed to the tip, and can also result in the shaft being fused to the body, making it appear smaller.

Hitler had a well known fear of people seeing him naked and never became a father himself, despite his push for Germans to produce Aryan babies.

Hitler’s lack of libido was also well known.

His personal doctor Theodor Morell prescribed Hitler amphetamines, hormones and cocaine on occasion, to hike the leader’s sex drive for romps with partner Eva Braun as his libido was lacking. He also recorded Hitler’s hypospadias.
