Health Hacker: Singer Conrad Sewell’s journey to a healthier lifestyle

Singer Conrad Sewell did his fair share of partying during his earlier days but the 32-year-old now prefers mediating and praying to a hangover these days.

Conrad Sewell is the first to admit that, in the early days of his music career, the age-old adage of sex, drugs and rock and roll played a starring role in his lifestyle.

But that was then. These days, you’re more likely to find the talented 32-year-old Aussie singer sitting in a church pew than propping up a bar early on a Sunday morning.

I mean, he’s still got the rock and roll tattoos, sure, but even they’re a little different. On one arm, the Virgin Mary, as well as an image of the infant Jesus.

“Now I want to get into the best shape of my life, train six days a week, up cardio to an hour a day and cook more at home,” he tells Health Hacker.

“I live by the motto that you need to enjoy the process, be present and trust that everything happens for a reason — you’re exactly where you need to be right now.”

As it turns out, where Conrad needed to be was in lockdown in a challenging 2020, with the extra months at home rather than on the road delivering him the time he needed to put the finishing touches on a new album — his second — that he’ll be dropping soon.

“I’ve basically spent the entire year working on my second album and I am so excited to finally put it out into the world in 2021,” he says.

Diet

“I really try to stick to whole foods but I can’t live without coffee and oat milk, bananas, blueberries, dark chocolate and some type of protein shake.”

Exercise

“I love my cardio and I try to train six days every week. I love keeping active with F45 or some type of circuit training but I also weight train a few times a week. I also try to get out for a casual game of basketball or soccer whenever I can.”

Mindset

“I try to mediate and pray every morning. I find keeping a journal and gratitude list next to my bed also encourages me to write in it every morning. I also try get to church whenever I can, but always on a Sunday.”
