Halloween 2018: What events and parties are on for Sydney this spooky season?

HALLOWEEN 2018 is here and Sydney is bursting with events and parties. There’s no excuse to not enjoy the spooky festivities.

THE Halloween weekend is approaching and Australia’s biggest city has no shortage of events on offer.

From pumpkin carving to kids’ treat-or-treating, Sydney has something for everyone this scary season.

Luna Park’s Halloscream

Sydney’s biggest Halloween event is back. This year, Luna Park Sydney will transform into an abandoned amusement park for Halloscream 6: The Rise of the Cursed Carnival. Halloscream runs from 7pm over five nights: 26th, 27th and 31st October and 2nd and 3rd November.

General admission will set you back $69.95 and family passes are available for $249.95. Tickets include unlimited access to rides and entry into the spooky attractions.

The Sydney Zombie Walk

The zombie apocalypse begins in Sydney; beware to those who get in their way. On Saturday 27 October, St Mary’s Cathedral Square will become ground zero for a horde of brain-munching zombies. If your supply of fake blood has run dry and you don’t have access to gory prosthetic wounds, the Party People will have a reverse first aid tent ready where makeup artists will help you achieve the undead look.

The festivities begin at midday, with the 1km undead stampede beginning at 3:30pm Kids under 16 enter for free and those who register can save $5 off ticket prices. For everyone else, the zombie walk will cost $15. All registration funds go directly to the Brain Foundation research group.

Halloween in Sydney will give decoration enthusiasts a chance to go all-out.

Devil’s Night:

Voted the best adults-only interactive themed party in the world, Sydney’s Devil’s Night is hosted by Network Canada and Sydney Expat Americans making it a truly international festivity.

This party boasts a real trick-or-treat experience with three DJ areas and crazy games. There’s $15,000 worth of prizes available too, including a seven-day ski trip for two to Canada. Free drink sampling will take place from 8pm-10pm. Devil’s Night begins at 8pm on Saturday 27 October at the Greenwood Hotel, North Sydney and will run until 3am. Tickets start at $15.

The Argyle’s Halloween Weekend Asylum

The Argyle turns into a freakish funhouse for over the Halloween weekend. Guests are invited to dance the night away to music provided by artists including BROOKLYN, Jesabel, Rojdar and Tass. The event runs over both Friday 26 and Saturday 27 October, starting at 8pm. Entry is free on Friday before 9pm for those who sign up for the guest list. Tickets start at $17.89 for Saturday night.

Halloween Cruise XII

The Sydney Harbour Halloween Cruise is back for its 12th year in a row. This aquatic party invites guests to enjoy Halloween on the iconic Sydney Harbour. The three-level party cruiser will sail the for four hours, offering patrons Halloween themed cocktails and drinks, finger food, DJ and dance floor. The Halloween Cruise departs on Saturday 27 October, running from 7:30pm-11:30pm. Tickets cost $49 and group bookings with 10 people receive a free ticket.

Kids — and their parents — will be able to go trick-or-treating throughout Sydney.

The Grounds’ Garden of Terror.

This one is for the kids. The Ground of Alexandria will transform into a spooky area for little ghosts and ghouls to enjoy. Kids will be able to treat-or-treat through interactive stations with prizes awarded for the best costumes. Prizes are also up for grabs for the best monsters on the dancefloor.

The Garden of Terror opens up at 5pm, running until 9pm on Wednesday 31 October. Entry costs $10 and 30 per cent of proceeds will be donated to the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation. This event has limited availability so book early to secure tickets.

Gymea Hotel HOWL-oween Event

Halloween isn’t just for people - your furry friends can get dressed up too. Pound Paws presents its ‘HOWL-oween’ dog day, where pets can get into costume and raise awareness for dog adoption. Guests can enjoy live entertainment and stalls from 12pm on Sunday 28 October.

Pumpkin Carving for Adults

It’s an iconic aspect to Halloween, yet a difficult skill to master. Thankfully, pumpkin carving lessons are on offer at Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden on Friday 26 October.

Attendees will be able to carve imaginative designs, from simple to elaborate, while being serenaded by a haunted soundtrack. Various methods and techniques will be taught, allowing for the perfect Halloween decorations to light your front door.

The event runs from 6:30pm onwards and tickets cost $85. Be sure to bring your own pumpkin!

Halloween Burlesque:

For something a little left of field, the Seymour Centre is running a Halloween Burlesque class. Guests are encouraged to don their costumes and take part in a sultry and spooky routine. The class runs on Saturday 27 October from 3pm-4:30pm and includes sparkling beverages, a glitzy workshop and loads of laughs. The class costs $45, but students can get in for $35.
