LIMA
You can’t judge a book by its cover but at this Walsh Bay restaurant, the vibrant Asian-inspired murals do reflect an equally exciting menu featuring Nikkei cuisine named after the Japanese immigrants in Peru.
Lima’s head chef and co-owner, Hector Chunga says it’s a “blend of Japanese style and techniques but with Peruvian flavours and ingredients”.
For Father’s Day, there’ll be a tasting menu with dishes such as the causa roll, a yellow potato sushi roll, sliced fish ceviche, Angus beef skewers and Chaufa, Peruvian fried rice.

NU’U BY NATIVO
On Father’s Day, Michelin-trained chef Manual Diaz will think of his family back in Oaxaca, a city in southern Mexico.
“My grandmother owns a humble restaurant,” Diaz said. “When I’m in her restaurant, it feels like home.”
But here in Sydney, after five years in some of the city’s most prestigious restaurants, he and his partner Diana Farrera are creating a culinary home of their own – a Mexican restaurant and Mezcal bar in Glebe.
For Father’s Day, their tasting menu will feature dishes such as crispy pork belly with cured mole, grilled peaches and mezcal molasses, Tetela (grilled maize triangle filled with slow-cooked pork and salsa molcajete), roasted chicken with chipotle butter, flan with Oaxacan cacao, and more.
WARIKE
“Warike” loosely translates to hole in-the-wall … those secret spots known only through word-of-mouth. But the secret is getting out.
For Father’s Day it will celebrate dads with a six-course tasting menu featuring the elevated Peruvian food the restaurant has become known for including such favourites as ceviche classico (Kingfish ceviche), pastel de choclo (finger sandwich-shaped layers of corn cake topped with an anchovy), and exclusive to Father’s day, a black rice and seafood paella.

LA CASA BAR & DINING
Family and food matter most to Antonio Sabia, restaurateur and executive chef at La Casa Dining & Bar.
“I’m a proud father of two and I’ve always shown my love through cooking for my kids. Porchetta is one of our family’s favourites; it’s popular in Basilicata, where my family comes from”.
Sabia is the former owner of Puntino Trattoria, an Italian institution in Woolloomooloo for over 20 years (before closing in 2021) renowned for legendary porchetta -seasoned boneless pork rolled into a log shape, slow-roasted overnight for a crisp and crunchy crackling.
Putino’s may be a memory, but Sabia is bringing back his porchetta for Father’s Day at the newly refurbished La Casa in Five Dock.

MARCEL BAR AND BISTRO
A recent addition to the area’s dining scene is Marcel Bar and Bistro, a sophisticated French restaurant with modern takes on classic dishes such as steak tartare. But before you plan a night in Sydney, look west as this chic dining destination is located at Pullman Sydney Penrith a new $110 million development with nods to local history and an executive chef (Colin Chun) championing the region’s produce and its respective producer.
For Father’s Day, Chun has created a three-course menu that starts with shared entrees including tuna crudo, and a king prawn bisque followed by slow-roasted Jack Creek wagyu striploin, then a choice of rum baba or creme Brulee for dessert. ($89pp).

HARRY’S BY GUILS
The little sister of Guils, a popular Surry Hill’s Italian known for its elevated classics and cocktails, has taken a more casual approach befitting Darlinghurst’s Stanley St, with a menu that favours tapas, pizza, and fresh pasta.
But for Father’s Day, they’re things up notch with the addition of a special lobster spaghetti with cherry tomatoes, white wine, and chilli ($58). With only 80-seats in this cosy venue, youÕll want to book in sooner rather than later. (Open 11am-late).

PUMPHOUSE
What was once a 19th century power station, has been converted over the year into an expansive two-level bar and restaurant which after recent renovations sports an industrial chic design anchored by an imposing timber bar.
It’s a perfect spot for Father’s Day, and Pumphouse’s annual ’Feast & Trim’ event - a three-course share meal that includes a grazing board with sage and fennel porchetta and roasted sirloin, followed by a warm chocolate brownie and a complimentary grooming session for dad, and exclusive to the day’s event, a Kids’ Club.
