PLOOS

Taking pride of place in heritage-listed bond stores at Campbells Cove, Ploós boasts an unobstructed view of the Sydney Opera House, but after dining at this Mediterranean restaurant, you’ll understand why Executive Chef Peter Conistis’ menu gets all the attention. It’s not surprising given that his first restaurant 30 years ago not only garnered him a coveted “hat” (as would his subsequent restaurants), but he has been dubbed a forerunner of Sydney’s modern Greek cuisine.

Despite the success, he says something was missing: “I always wanted to open a Greek-style restaurant with a water view because it encapsulates everything Greek – water, seafood, history.

It just ticks all the boxes for me, and I love it. I’m so grateful.” To get a taste of Ploós, Peter has partnered American Express delicious. Month Out and curated a bespoke set menu of southern Aegean dishes, including the Cretan delicacy, Pork T-bone Apaki-style, exclusive to this promotion.

Two-course ($55pp), three courses ($70pp). Available Thursday-Saturday, 12pm-3pm through May 31, 2023.

LUNA LU

It’s the contemporary Asian cuisine that makes Luna Lu a standout.

At the helm is Head Chef Pierre Davide Maiuri.

“I introduced a dish with a fillet of Glacier 51 toothfish and red curry. It’s inspired by something that I love from my time in Thailand – my first red curry,” he explains.

Other highlights include the crispy Peking duck, Black Angus Rangers Valley short beef ribs, and the vegetarian kung pao-style eggplant.

Through May they’ll take $20 off the per-person price of a degustation banquet.

BENNELONG

It’s fitting that at this iconic location, celebrated chef Peter Gilmore serves as a veritable ambassador for Australian produce, as is apparent with a menu that showcases local, regional, and Australian producers such as Maremma pasture-raised duck.

Much of the lure to this chic Mediterranean restaurant is the music, as it shares its name with the luxurious bar in Ibiza that spawned its own “chillout” music label.

Inside, The Dining Room has a casual elegance with an elevated Mediterranean menu – a large selection of tapas, small share plates like large snapper tiradito, sweet corn, tomato and habanero tigers’ milk, coriander, sweet potato chips, large plates, shared main, and dessert.

LOVE.FISH

Love.fish is not only adamant about using seafood sourced from the waters of Australia or New Zealand (its origins listed on the menu), but everything else from the bar to the coffee and even the packaging is sourced locally.

It’s this commitment to detail and sustainability that has garnered love.fish a loyal following, not just at Barangaroo along the Sydney Foreshore Walk, but going back 13 years to its original Rozelle location, which they referred to as a “Fish bar with a green heart”.
