A new version of a popular chocolate bar that foodies scrambled to get their hands on in 2024 has been released.
Cadbury confirmed it had released its Dairy Milk Caramel Mudcake bar — less than a year after the original was put on shelves.
Nick Vavitis, who created the popular Choclt. brand, picked up a bar to sample and said it smelled like it had “a heap of caramel in it” thanks to the caramelised white chocolate and caramel crème inside of the sweet treat.
“This is a good sign because I hated the first one,” he said.
After taking a bite, he said the caramel hit him “straight away,” adding he was “surprised” the brand “nailed” it. But, he did say the chocolate was melting pretty quickly.
Meanwhile fellow Melbourne foodie, @nectoriouspapi, also tried the flavour, declaring he hoped it was “better than the original”.
After digging it, he declared it was “unreal” and tasted like a “Woolies caramel mudcake”.
“I’m so here for it. Definitely check it out,” he said.
The chocolate bar is exclusive to Woolworths, and will be in stores from March 19.
“Cadbury is committed to delighting our consumers with the highest quality and delicious tasting chocolate,” a Cadbury spokesperson told news.com.au.
“Our latest Caramel Mudcake block, exclusive to Woolworths, draws inspiration from the timeless caramel mud cake enjoyed by Aussies at many celebrations with friends and family.”
Last year, Cadbury confirmed it would release the Dairy Milk Mudcake bar after months of speculation from foodies.
When Woolworths cleared a space for it in the confectionary aisle, even advertising it with a yellow price-tag, many chocolate fans were over the moon.
But their joy was short-lived when the new chocolate block failed to appear, leaving some to share their disappointment on social media.
Images of empty shelves soon began circulating online, with Melbourne foodie @AngeEats telling news.com.au at the time he was “confused” to see the product advertised on shelves, yet find stock was “completely missing”.
He elaborated on the bizarre situation further on his podcast The Food Guys, stating he’d visited every Woolies store he could looking for the Cadbury Mudcake chocolate block, with no success.
“We’ve just gone every single hour of the day trying to find this new stuff and we’re always so disappointed,” he said.
“Where is it?”
But, alas, it seems like the hustle has “finally” paid off after one of Ange’s co-hosts spotted the chocolate block in Woolworths.
The bar officially launched on June 5, 2024.
