Aldi issues warning after influencer’s viral shopping hack

A Sydney influencer know for handy money advice has prompted Aldi to urge customers not to “rush in” after one of her tips went viral.

It’s no secret everyone loves a good bargain.

And while Aldi is already known for its affordable prices, customers can now save even more by shopping on a particular day of the week, a finance expert has claimed.

Sydney influencer Queenie Tan, who is known for sharing little-known money saving tips on TikTok, said the best day to shop at the German discount store is on Wednesdays.

The 25-year-old claimed the midweek day is when the German supermarket “have new deals and it’s when they restock”.

Aldi Australia confirmed Wednesday was the day Super Savers deals were released but urged shoppers not to “rush in” as the offers were available all week.

“Every day is a savings day when you shop at Aldi, literally,” an Aldi spokesperson said. “Wednesday is one of seven exciting days in our stores as our Special Buys are released on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

“Wednesday is also the day that our newest Super Saver deals are released - but no need to rush in on this day alone as Super Savers are available for a full week.”

Wednesday is also the day Special Buys are dropped in stores along with Saturdays – making both mornings also very busy.

Many were quick to thank Queenie for her midweek “Aldi hack”, describing it as an “amazing idea”.

“I never shop at Aldi, but I might have a look one Wednesday now,” one said.

“I’ll be shopping on Wednesdays now, thanks,” another keen user added.

Others said Wednesday was also the best day of the week to shop at Woolies.

“ … We change promotions every Tuesday night. So the best day to shop at Woolies is Wednesday and also Tuesday night we get heaps of load,” the user wrote.

“Woolies do the same.. all new promotions pop up on Wednesday,” said another.

Woolies actually has a little-known feature on its app that tells you if your local store is busy, before you leave the house.

In a TikTok that has been viewed more than 37,000 times, popular Woolies employee Liam Kirley, known for sharing tips and hacks, explained how all you need to do is search the supermarket’s Q Tracker online.

After you enter your postcode or suburb, it will let you know your store’s estimated queue time.

“The information is provided by the store, whether that’s how many people are in the store, how long it takes them to shop and queue wait times,” he said.

The data gets updated every five minutes so shoppers will have the latest details whether they are about to leave their home or on their way to shop.
