Expert reveals we’ve been storing our perfume in the wrong spot

MOST of us display bottles of perfume in the bedroom or bathroom. But according to experts, we’re storing them all wrong.

How a Luxury Perfume Is Brought to Market

PLENTY of people love to display all their perfumes in the bathroom or on their bedroom windowsill, but it’s not the best place for them.

In fact, due to the sensitive chemical make up of eau de toilette and eau de parfum, the way to store them is to pop them in the fridge.

Never put your perfume on the windowsill

Storage expert Vlatka Lake, marketing manager at Space Station explained: “To prolong the scent of your favourite fragrance, sometimes it is best to store them in a refrigerator.

“Many of us keep our prized perfume collection on display on our dressing tables, but perfumes and colognes with high oil concentrates can break down over time when exposed to light and heat.

“Remember to always keep fragrances away from windowsills and bathrooms.

“And if your fridge is full, a dry, cold storage cupboard is just as good.”

Use your own perfume to make scented moisturiser

Another handy tip that perfume lovers can benefit from — especially as party season approaches — is to rub vaseline on pulse points before spritzing your favourite scent to make it last longer.

It’s also been recommended to spray perfume straight on to skin freshly moisturised with an unscented cream.

The oily base will retain the fragrance for longer.

Similarly, you can add in the last few drops of a favourite scent in to a plain cream to make a gorgeous scented moisturiser.
