Champion marathon runner Jessica Stenson has welcomed a new golden girl to her family.

The Commonwealth Games gold medallist gave birth to her second child, a baby girl named Ellie Beth, on Thursday morning.

Stenson, 36, and her husband Dylan Stenson shared the good news, along with a series of happy snaps, just hours after the birth on social media.

The couple are already proud parents to Billy Samuel, aged almost 4.

“Welcome to the family Ellie Beth Stenson,” the marathon runner wrote on Instagram.

“Born on September 14th at 8:35am, weighing 3.27kg. Everyone is travelling well & Billy had a big grin when he met his new sister this afternoon! We are so in love with her and feel incredibly grateful.”

Stenson, who won gold in the women’s marathon at last year’s Birmingham Games, was flooded with wellwishers, including her own mother, Deb.

“So delighted to welcome our third little granddaughter today – so perfect – and so happy for Jess Dyl and Billy. Such a proud Mum and Nannie,” Deb wrote on Instagram.

Stenson, nee Trengove, met her future husband Dylan at the 2014 City-Bay fun run and wed on Easter Saturday 2019 in the Adelaide Hills.

With the 2024 Olympics on the horizon, Stenson said she hadn’t ruled out competing at the Paris Games.

She had the best year of her career in 2022 after she came back from having her first child, Billy, in late 2019.

“I am open to it all,” she said in May about the possibility of running in Paris.

“It would have to go very smoothly from a mental, physical and logistical perspective and you don’t know what your body is going to be like and whether with the baby there are going to be any complications which might make things tough.

“But it’s not something I’m ruling out, let’s say that.”

Earlier in the year, she told the Soda Room Podcast that if everything went smoothly post-pregnancy, Paris was still on the cards.

“I’d have to be physically, mentally and emotionally ready to chase a goal like that. So I’m just going in, again, very open minded. We’ll just see how I’m feeling. I don’t want to have any expectations or put any pressure on it,” she said.
