A Sydney nurse who has been working on the frontline in Australia’s coronavirus fight has undergone an incredible makeover.
Lauren Angus hasn’t been seen out of her blue scrubs in months in her role as a clinical nurse educator at Sydney Children’s Hospital.
But the deserving nurse has recently undergone a stunning transformation, ditching her uniform for a pink party frock.
She’s one of 100 everyday Aussies who are putting themselves in the hands of celebrity stylist Donny Galella as part of his 100 Makeovers in 100 Days challenge.

The fashion lover is on a mission to bring some sunshine amid the current gloomy climate after his annual charity event was cancelled because of COVID-19 social distancing measures.
“Last year I set up an organisation called F.A.M.I.L.Y – which stands for ‘Fashion and media industry love you’ – as a way for my industries to give back to the community,” Donny told news.com.au.
“I hosted a red carpet inaugural event last year and raised over $40,000 for two charities close to my heart – R U OK? And the McGrath foundation.
“Given I couldn’t do the same style of event this year because of due to COVID, I decided to do something different.”
“Lots of people have been doing it tough lately, so if I can bring just a little bit of joy and love to 100 everyday Aussies then I will be thrilled.”
Earlier this month, Donny put a call out on his Instagram page, calling for people to nominate someone who “deserves a life changing makeover” – and Lauren was among the first to be selected.
“Last Friday we did the first four makeovers, they were for Lauren, an amazing dedicated nurse, and Fernanda, 60, who lost her 21 year old son to suicide,” Donny said.
“We also worked on Kell who has lost almost 30kg and had body confidence issues, leaving her unsure how to dress for her new body.
“Sharon manages a gym and always motivates and inspires others but she lives in active wear 24/7 and had never had her makeup done professionally.”
Throughout the day the nominees received a pamper session, having their make-up applied by celebrity make-up artist, Melissa Gigliotti, who has created red carpet looks for star’s including Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew and former MAFS star Jules Robinson.
Outfits were donated by various brands, including dress rental service Glam Corner, Big W – who Donny is an ambassador for – and Sheike.
“I’ve not given time to myself for a very long time,” Lauren said.
“As a health professional I’ve been trying to physically distance myself as much as possible to protect our families as well as our patients and the community, so there’s not been much glamming up.”
The tired nurse was given a revamped new look with a gorgeous wavy blow out, natural glam make-up and a figure-hugging pink sleeveless dress.
Meanwhile Fernanda’s baggy blue jumper and straight white pants were ditched in favour of a emerald green dress with a matching belt that cinched her in at the waist. She also got to sit down with Melissa who gave her glowy skin and glossy hair.
“It was such a gratifying day to see these ladies transform, their confidence go from 0 to 100 within a couple hours,” Donny said.
All four ladies then had their photos taken by photographer Jon Saad.
The amazing makeovers were just the first in a line of many more, so if you know someone who deserves to be given a gorgeous makeover, please contact Donny Galella here.
