Bartender calls out 'entitled' request at pubs

Surely, we're all guilty of trying to pull this cheeky move at least once, right?

Bartender calls out 'entitled' act at pub

PSA to all pub-goers: stop trying to get the bartender to give you more alcohol!

They know all the tactics you’re going to try, and they won’t fall for it.

Well, that’s according to one bartender, @michellebellexo, who took to TikTok recently to call out customers who pull this specific move.

The 'entitled' pub act

Michelle Raleigh roleplays as a customer in the clip and says, “Hi. I'm going to have a vodka cranberry. But could I have no ice in it?"

Michelle, now playing the bartender, agrees and makes the drink as requested, using the same ratio of liquor to mixer as she would if there were ice in the drink.

After handing over the drink, the customer expressed their disappointment that the drink wasn’t filled “to the top” and bulked out with extra alcohol.

The bartender, Michelle, replies, “That’s not actually the way it works. When you ask for no ice, you actually get more mixer because ice takes up space in the drink.”

“But I didn't fill it all the way up so that you could still taste the liquor. If you want to pay for a double, I can bring you another shot to pour in there.”

She said in that caption that a version of this scenario happens “ALL the time.”

"Dumfounded by people who don't realise this"

In the comments, followers and fellow bartenders praised her for sharing the message. “Yes, exactly. I don’t get how people don’t understand that we pour the exact same amount for every mixed drink,” said one. “People just don’t get how drinks work, lol.”

“I'm dumbfounded by the number of people that don't realise ice takes up volume in a glass,” someone else admitted.

“This is not a McDonald's, that no ice trick ain't gonna work,” a third quipped.

“When I worked at a bar, we went from large wine glasses to smaller ones, and this lady was mad and called them thimbles,” shared another.

“Seriously, do they think bartenders are stupid or something?” asked another viewer.

Maybe! Won't be trying this one ever again!
