A Tassie woman who won a life-changing $1.3 million in the lottery has revealed how she celebrated the big win — brewing a hot cup of tea.
The woman, from Hobart, held one of the division one winning entries in Saturday’s Tattslotto drawing.
She pocketed a staggering $1,311,009,44 from the 36-game QuickPick ticket, which she bought online.
The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, said she headed straight to the kettle to celebrate with a soothing cup of tea after the shock revelation unleashed a flood of emotions and sent her heart racing.
“Oh my god. I’m finding it hard to breathe,” the woman said when lottery officials called on Monday morning to inform her of her win.
“I’m absolutely stunned, just staggered. I can’t believe it. I’m so overwhelmed.”
The woman said she had “played Tattslotto for a long time” and “always thought I’d react differently” to a big win.
“I’ve won a lot of little prizes, but never anything like this,” she explained.
“I never in a million years thought this would happen to me. I don’t even know what to do with myself today. It’s hard to think. It’s been a difficult time, and this will really help my family.”
The woman ended the call with a sweet statement.
“Thank you so much for this phone call. I need to go have a cup of tea!” she said.
The winning numbers in the Tattslotto draw 4383 on Saturday were 32, 14, 1, 5, 26 and 33, while the supplementary numbers were 37 and 8.
There were four division one entries in the drawing — two in Queensland, one in Tasmania and one in WA.
The woman’s win was the sixth division one win in Tasmania in 2023.
One Tattslotto entry gives punters a one in eight million chance of winning, according to Oz Lotteries.
