Aussies obsessed with new Kmart tech making Click & Collects a breeze

“If this comes to our local I’m gonna Click & Collect EVERYTHING.”

Getting a Click & Collect reduces a lot of the hassle of finding something specific in store.

But, it creates some new problems as well, namely lining up along with everyone else looking to buy an item, or make a return.

Thankfully, these days might be over soon, with some brand new tech spotted at Kmart.

“SUCH a cool and clever idea!”

TikTok user @sammyybaileyy has taken to TikTok to share a new feature making Click & Collects easier at her local Kmart at Westfield Mt Gravatt in Queensland.

It’s a self-serve system, allowing shoppers to simply put in their details on a kiosk, before a robot finds and brings their orders straight to them in a small tray.

Samantha said she was shocked to see how well it all worked.

“I thought the self-serve system was SUCH a cool and clever idea!” she told Kidspot.

“It was fast, super easy to use, and honestly made the whole Click & Collect process feel a bit futuristic.”

In the comments, she noted that a staff member told her the system was being trialled at her store, with hopes that it could be rolled out into others in the future.

“I’d love to see it rolled out in more stores, especially for those early morning pick-ups when staff might not always be nearby. It just makes sense!” she added.

“I’m gonna click and collect EVERYTHING”

Commenters on the post were obsessed with the idea, noting how much more convenient it would be.

“I’d honestly take this over having to wait in line at the service desk, I swear my local Kmart always has the longest line and there’s only ever one person working the desk,” one person said.

“If this comes to our local I’m gonna Click & Collect EVERYTHING,” another commented.

“I want to do this just to see the robot coming with my $5 shirt and candle!” a third agreed.

“This is so cool, as an introvert this would make life so much easier,” said another.

“Bye bye so many people’s jobs”

But, of course, people still had their concerns.

“Bye bye so many people’s jobs,” one commenter said.

“Hopefully this isn’t in the middle of the store tho…” said another.

Kidspot has contacted Kmart for comment.
