Though not necessarily a pantry staple, a good peanut butter is something that just about every household needs - and, everyone has a favourite.
Just like any product, you’d be mad if your favourite peanut butter started tasting a little…different.
One Aussie mum has just experienced this for herself, and as warning fellow ALDI shoppers not to make the same mistake.

“Such a shame!”
An Aussie mum has taken to the ALDI Mums Facebook group after noticing a few changes in her favourite peanut butter.
“The crunchy peanut butter is a staple in our house, but our new one wasn't as smooth or sweet this morning,” she said in the post.
“Looking at the old one we had, the differences are:
- Different container.
- Now made in India vs was made in Argentina.
- Palm Oil vs Palm Fat in previous.
- Now has higher % of peanuts.
“I am going to email Aldi our personal feedback that it's not as nice of a product and we will be returning. However, I wanted to give a heads up to others as the label artwork is still the same so we didn't notice it had changed until we tasted.
“Such a shame as we now need to start the process of finding a new crunchy peanut butter - any recs? ð¥”

“I agree!”
A number of commenters on the post were equally as disappointed in the change.
“I agree, it is nowhere near as nice as the original one they had,” said one commenter.
“We took ours back for a refund as we had bought a few jars and they refunded them all without any issue so I imagine they have had a few complaints.”
Others couldn’t understand why they would make the changes they did.
“It should be better, doesn't more % of peanuts mean less % of other stuff? Palm fat and palm oil are the same. Btw the peanuts have their own oil. Why are they adding palm oil? It doesn’t sound good,” one commenter said.
The best of the best
If a new peanut butter recommendation is what you’re after, commenters well and truly came to the party with suggestions.
Many recommended an ALDI alternative, in the American Style Peanut Butter. However, it caused rumours to swirl that the product may be discontinued.
“We liked the American peanut butter from Aldi's, haven't seen it in agessss. Most other brands are too dry for my liking,” said one commenter.
“The American peanut butter was fabulous. My children don't eat the cheaper versions at all. I wish they would bring it back,” another said.
Aside from that, Mayvers and Skippy’s were definitely on top.
“My kids and hubby like the one from Costco (Skippy I think). I prefer the mayvers from Woolies,” one commenter said.
“I like the Pics or Mayvers but my daughter loves Sanitarium Crunchy or Skippy Extra Crunchy both available in Woolies,” said another.
“Can't beat mayvers. I just stock up when it's on special elsewhere,” another commenter said.
“Skippy is my absolute fav,” said another.
