A kid at my son’s school sells Prime drinks for $8 - and his dad condones it!

“I was outraged. How is this even allowed? And what parent is actually allowing it?" a disgruntled mum-of-two says of the new energy drink that has Aussie parents worried.

Is it okay for your kids to drink the energy drink Prime?

A Sydney mum was gobmacked when her young son asked her for money to purchase a drink spruiked by a popular international influencer.

But, she was even more shocked to learn where her 10-year-old-son was gaining access to said products.

“I was outraged. HOW is this even allowed? And what parent is actually ALLOWING it? I was fuming that kids were making this idea 'cool',” the disgruntled mum-of-two tells Kidspot.

"My friend is selling PRIME drink at school for $8"

When her son came home asking to buy Logan Paul’s PRIME Hydration, she was confused because the drink can't be purchased at any supermarkets across the country yet, and he surely knew better than to ask about online orders.

She was then further appalled by his explanation.

“My friend  is selling PRIME at school and he is asking everyone to bring in $8 to get one,” her son responded.

“What parent in their right mind would think that is OK?” she exclaimed to Kidspot.

"Well, the dad obviously thought it was a good idea because according to the children in his grade, instead of telling his son the drink wasn't appropriate and selling them at school was definitely not on - he told his child that he should sell them for more!”

"PRIME energy drink has twice the legal caffeine limit"

PRIME Energy is a caffeinated energy drink designed and marketed by international influencers Logan Paul and KSI.

This particular beverage hasn’t been legalised in Australia due to its high contents of caffeine that is double an average Red Bull or V Energy - holding up to 200mg of caffeine.

While it isn’t yet directly for sale in Australia, it can be purchased from online retailers and shipped in.

PRIME Hydration, however, is the decaffeinated version that is targeted to the younger generations. The hydration drink is said to contain filtered coconut water and natural refreshing flavours that is marketed to those with an active lifestyle.

However, it does contain artificial sweeteners and preservatives and is not recommended for growing children.

Prime Hydration hasn’t been stocked on the shelves of major retailers yet due to the legalities surrounding the brand's message - as well as the health risks associated with high-level international energy drinks.

"My 12yo keep begging me for Logan Paul's PRIME Hydration drink"

A fellow Sydney mum is sick of her 12-year-old son constantly asking for PRIME, morning, noon and night. She particularly despises the hype created by the influencers that promote it.

“I loathe how these energy drinks are hyped up by TikTok stars and 'influencers' and the kids want to try them cause they think it's cool,” snapped the angry mother.

“Maybe the creators and drink companies should consider the effects they are having on impressionable young kids.”

Woolworths has confirmed that the product will be hitting their shelves shortly.

“We'll be stocking the Prime Hydration range in all our stores nationally in the coming days,” a Woolworths spokesperson told Kidspot.

This comes after an influx of shoppers have relentlessly harassed staff for the hyped-up drink, when it was said to be on shelves last Wednesday.

It appears that these drinks are becoming an epidemic among young people, and a nightmare among parents.
