Shot man tasered after carjacking, pursuit shuts down M5

A man with a gunshot wound allegedly led police on a chaotic pursuit across Sydney’s south before attempting to stab a police dog during a dramatic arrest in the M5 East tunnel.

Mosman Police Pursuit and Crash: Just after midnight last night Police sighted a stolen silver Hyundai on Howard Ave Dee Why and engaged in a pursuit. The vehicle sped away and Police lost sight of the vehicle. Not long after the same vehicle was spotted on Pittwater Rd Dee Why and another pursuit started. Once again the car got away. Then minutes later the car was seen on Spit Rd heading towards the Spit Bridge. Police engaged in a pursuit for a third time. This time the driver of Hyundai lost control on a bend near Stanton Lane x Spit Rd Mosman and crossed to the incorrect side of the road and crashed into a Landrover discovery. During the crash the Hyundai has completely destroyed a Light Pole, a street sign and ripped of the rear axle of the vehicle. The male driver ran from the scene with Police in pursuit but were unable to catch the man. A woman that was passenger in the car was arrested at the scene. 2 of 3 northbound lanes on Spit Rd were closed as the cleanup operation began to remove the two damaged vehicles from the scene.
