Police are hunting for the driver of a stolen car that was totalled in a wild crash following a pursuit through Sydney’s north shore early on Saturday.
NSW Police said officers had spotted the stolen silver Hyundai hatchback travelling on Howard Ave, Dee Why about 12.15am Saturday before it sped away.
Later sighted on Spit Rd heading towards the Spit Bridge, the car was pursued by Highway Patrol officers.

The crash wrote off the Hyundai, with images from the chaotic scene showing its rear axle had been ripped away after it smashed into the other car and hurtled through a street sign and light pole.
The driver of the stolen car got out and ran from police. He was pursued for a short time but managed to flee the scene.
His female passenger was arrested and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
The male driver of the Discovery was uninjured.
