Quilty doco to screen on ABC

At the media preview of his landmark exhibition, Quilty, at the Art Gallery of NSW last week, Ben Quilty told a story that indicates he’ll probably never paint anything that’s not squeezed directly out of his heart with some level of disbelief, anger or sense of injustice.

Marina Prior joins Aussie cast of 9 To 5 The Musical

Opera and musical theatre star Marina Prior will play the ultra-efficient Violet New­stead in the Australian premiere of the musical based on the 1980 breakthrough film 9 To 5, in which Dolly Parton co-starred with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

MCA artist falls foul of Customs

Australian Customs pounced when the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia was attempting to import a key artwork for its big summer show by British artist Cornelia Parker, which opens tonight.

Quilty set to rev up the AGNSW

Ben Quilty’s art first appeared inside the Art Gallery of NSW in the HSC major work exhibition, ARTEXPRESS, in 1991. Back then, no one could predict how closely connected to the gallery Quilty would become.
