The man pictured has been identified as Matthew Russell Police have released the name and photo of a man they believe may be able to assist with inquiries into the fatal shooting of a man at Heckenberg last night. Shortly after 6.30pm yesterday (Friday 18 March 2016), an altercation occurred between a motorist and two male pedestrians in Matthew Street, Heckenberg. The driver of the car confronted the two pedestrians, firing a handgun at them during the incident. Investigations suggest that the round missed the two men but struck a man sitting in his car in Matthew Street at the time. That man’s car then went on to hit one of the male pedestrians. Police investigating the death of a woman in Westmead at the weekend have released CCTV footage as part of their renewed appeal for information from the public. About 9.30pm on Saturday (7 March 2015), emergency services responded to reports of a seriously injured woman on a public walkway between Argyle Street, Parramatta, and Amos Street, Westmead. Ambulance Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before transporting her to Westmead Hospital, where she died about 12.45am yesterday (Sunday 8 March 2015). The woman has since been positively identified as Prabha Arun Kumar, a 41-year-old Indian national. It’s believed Prabha got off a train at Parramatta Railway Station about 9pm, before walking along Argyle Street and turning left onto the walkway. Police believe she was attacked while on the walkway. She sustained a number of injuries, which it’s believed were inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon. Strike Force Marcoala (pronounced mah-cola) has been formed to investigate the death. It compromises police from Parramatta Local Area Command and State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad. Officers attached to Strike Force Marcoala have today (Monday 9 March 2015) renewed their appeal for information from the public about the incident.
