News of her split from John Symond has prompted chatter about where Amber Symond will live when she decides to leave ‘Aussie Stadium’ in Point Piper.

John Symond and ex-wife Amber are currently living comfortably and amicably in Symond’s Point Piper “Aussie Stadium”, however news of their split has prompted chatter about where Amber will live next.

Two homes have been purchased in Amber’s name in recent years — a $5.3m art gallery in Paddington and a $12.5m historic home in Potts Point.

Saturday Confidential — whose spies spotted the pair dining at Double Bay hot spot Margaret last week — believes Amber will soon move into her Paddington home, which was for 40 years Denis Savill’s art gallery.

Amber, the creative director of fashion label Common Hours, is in the midst of converting the rundown gallery into a house, with renovations well under way.

It’s a big job, with former owner Savill once starting, “I renovated it in 1985 and haven’t spent $10 on it since … it’s falling down around me.”

However sources say, the renovations are near completion, and the mother-of-two would be able to move in next year.

“Amber hasn’t moved out yet,” one well placed source said.

“That house is big enough for them to be at some distance from one another.

“But when she does move out, she will likely move to Paddington.

“She will end up in Potts Point one day, however it is years away from being finished.

“Paddington is almost ready.”

The other property, which was purchased in Amber’s name for $12.5 million in 2020, is 1980s-built house on dress-circle Challis Ave, Potts Point home.

More than $4.9 million will be spent to convert it from a boutique hotel to a private four-bedroom residence, with a cinema room, gym and library.

The home, set between Macleay and Victoria streets, was once touted as the couple’s “retirement home”.

But while works have been approved, they are yet to begin.

Previously, the property was an exclusive hotel for wealthy visitors to take in the sights of Sydney.

Constructed from earthy red-bricks with Tudor arches and stained glass windows the 12-bedroom house features stylistic elements dating back to the 19th century, including an English library, drawing room and a guest lounge.

Since its purchase Amber padlocked the front gate of the now-closed 14-room boutique hotel with 605 sqm internal space, although has allowed the premises to be used as a location for photo shoots.

The Symonds, who said they planned on spending Christmas and New Year’s together and under the same roof, are currently still both living in Mr Symond’s home in Sydney’s Point Piper, which was put up for sale in 2016.

It was withdrawn in 2017 after talk of it selling for over $100 million.

It is now rumoured to be worth $200 million, which would be the first house in Australia to sell for such a price.

The wealthy couple were spotted having lunch at celebrity haunt Margaret just last week.

John and Amber began their relationship 12 years ago and were married for eight.

They announced their separation last weekend.

“We enter this new chapter of our lives with a deep, mutual respect and friendship for each other,” the couple exclusively told the Saturday Telegraph in a joint statement.

“We are united in our love and commitment to our family.”
