Candice Warner says she was “blindsided” by the controversy involving her one-time friend Roxy Jacenko after the pair appeared together as contestants on the reality show SAS Australia.

Lawyers have been called in and Warner has parted ways with Jacenko’s management company since the pair were forced to face off in a boxing bout on the show.

“It is a shame that it has got to this,” Warner told The Morning Show’s Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur. “It has kind of really blindsided me so that is why for me it is a bit raw at the moment.”

Warner, 35, was careful with her words, commending publicist Jacenko for her efforts on the gruelling Channel 7 reality show.

“Roxy did a great job,” she said. “Anyone who puts their hand up and goes on the show, you have to comment them because it is hard, it is brutal and it is not for everyone. She did a really good job in just turning up and doing the best that she possibly could.”

Jacenko quit the series in the first episode, not long after the boxing incident.

“If she felt uncomfortable with fighting me, or anyone, she had an opportunity to pull out before stepping into the ring and putting your gloves on and your helmet,” Warner said.

Mother-of-three Warner opened up like never before in an explosive interrogation scene on Monday night.

Questioned by SAS Chief Instructor Ant Middleton, she addressed the ball tampering incident involving her cricketer husband David Warner, as well as her brief dalliance with footballer Sonny Bill Williams in 2007.

“To be interrogated like that is difficult,” she said, adding that she wouldn’t speak on behalf of her husband as it wasn’t her story to tell. “I wasn’t there to talk on behalf of David.”

Earlier today, Warner spoke to Nova breakfast duo Ryan ‘Fitzy' Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli.

In that interview, she said her husband “and a few of the boys” had been watching her on the show online from India, where he is playing cricket.

“He is just super proud and I think any time somebody is that vulnerable and honest you have to applaud them and you have to take your hat off to them because it’s not easy. It’s not easy talking about things that have hurt you for so long.”

Warner also addressed her dalliance, saying it was a relief to finally speak about it.

“I knew going on to the show that it was a possibility that my past would be brought up,” she said on The Morning Show. “I was very prepared to answer certain questions. I guess it is a bit of a relief because I have never really spoken about my feelings or how I have dealt with it or what I do to cope with certain situations.”
