TV presenter Jemma Barge has been obsessed with Christmas ever since she was a little girl and this holiday season, the plans on giving back.
Since landing her dream job as a presenter for Fox Sports in February, Barge has been gearing up to work during Christmas and is getting behind the Light the World Giving Machines initiative.
“Christmas is a time to get together with family and friends and end the year on a really good note whether it’s been a hard or a great year for people,” Barge told Confidential.
“Giving back is what I love to do and as soon as I heard that the giving machines were coming to Sydney I was so excited because I think this will really make it extra special for families to be able to give back in either a small or big way.”
Popping up across Australia, the vending machines offer a simple way to contribute essentials such as clothing, meals, school supplies, and lifesaving medicine to those in need
with just a tap.
“It’s a real family activity and it’s a good way to teach your kids that even if you’ve got five dollars you can give back,” Barge said.
The 31-year-old began her media career at 18 and has faced her share of challenges, but is” loving every second” of her new role.
“Working towards something definitely has its hardships but it’s been all worth it. I wanted to take my time to work towards this and I‘ve learnt so much.”
