The White Lotus, The Last of Us: First glimpse at return of major new series

Fans have finally been given a sneak peek at two of the most hotly-anticipated show returns – and at a brand-new GoT prequel.

A sneak peek into the return of two of the most highly-anticipated series in years has been unveiled at a showcase in London.

Season two of The Last of Us and season three of The White Lotus, both of which will drop in 2025, were previewed to a small press pack during an HBO Max Global Programming showcase on Thursday night.

When smash-hit post-apocalyptic series The Last of Us returns, it will once again follow Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie in their battle for survival. New characters will join the mix, with the story picking up five years after the events of the first season.

Meanwhile, The White Lotus will again focus on a luxury resort – this time, in Thailand, where a pack of ultra-wealthy guests arrive for a week of relaxation … but inevitably, drama (and death) ensues.

In keeping with the season two pattern, at least one character will reprise their role, with Insecure star Natasha Rothwell returning as spa therapist Belinda Lindsey.

The next chapter of the show also features an ensemble cast that includes Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Scott Glenn, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Sam Nivola, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and Aimee Lou Wood.

The first season of The Last of Us, along with seasons one and two of The White Lotus, are currently available to stream on BINGE.

The next season will again feature a brand-new cast.

The programming showcase also offered its most in-depth preview yet for the next Game of Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

“By design, we have taken a lighter tone and made something very different from its predecessors,” HBO boss Casey Bloys told press at the event.

Set a century before the Battle of Winterfell, the new series follows two unlikely heroes on their adventures around Westeros.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been adapted fromthree novellas by Thrones author George R. R. Martin, and stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Prince Aegon “Egg” Targaryen.

The White Lotus season three will premiere in February 2025, while the next instalment of The Last of Us is expected just months later, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will also hit screens in 2025.

During Thursday’s presentation, the showrunner and executive producer of the new Harry Potter TV adaptation, Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, also made a surprise appearance, and revealed the production would begin filming mid-next year at the UK’s iconic Leavesden Studios, which was previously home to the original eight-part film franchise.
