POPULAR Sunrise weather woman Edwina Bartholomew was left in tears this morning after she stepped down from her on-the-road role.

The 32-year-old, who also co-hosts Dancing with the Stars, was surprised by her parents, Ian and Cathy, and boyfriend, Neil Varcoe, live on air before her replacement was officially announced.

“Where have you been hiding? In the caravan park?” Bartholomew said through tears.

Sam Mac has landed the weather presenter gig with the Channel 7 breakfast show as part of its new program shake-up.

Bartholomew is expected to stay within the Sunrise family but her role will not involve long periods away from home.

“It’ll be nice to be in the studio with all of you guys,” she said.

Varcoe told viewers he was happy to have Bartholomew back.

“Look I think it’s been good for us,” he said when asked how he coped with Bartholomew on the road.

“We kind of focus on the time we have together and weekends are kind of really special and I eat a lot of pizza. So, win, win.”

Bartholomew marked her final day on Instagram with a post, which said: “Final day and final chance for Petch to get his kit off.”

Another post said: “Putting together my weather highlights has made me realise that I am the human embodiment of this emoji #laughingcrying #cryinglaughing #leavingnotleaving.”

Also part of the Sunrise shake-up includes the axing of Kochie’s Angels, which will be replaced by a new segment called The Sunrise News Feed.

The breakfast program is also revamping the set by demolishing “brekky central” with the space undergoing a massive makeover — its biggest in almost three years.

The new set, which has been designed by New York’s Jim Fenhagen, is being built in a warehouse in Sydney and is set to be installed this week.
