KOCHIE’S Angels, the popular talk forum on Channel Seven’s Sunrise program, has been cut, with a bevy of high-profile women losing their wings.

As part of the “new-look Sunrise”, producers have made the call to discontinue the long-running opinion segment to make way for a new opinion segment, covering the news of the day, expected to be called The Sunrise News Feed.

Regular “Angels” were this week sent an email notifying them that the segment, in which host David Koche discussed topical issues with three ladies, would be discontinued as of February.

“I have made the decision to rest Kochie’s Angels as a segment,” an email sent by executive producer Michael Pell read.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your contribution and loyalty. Many of you have featured on this segment from day one.

“Thank you for the insights and the laughs. I will miss our Kochie’s Angels lunches.”

Among the Angels featured on the show include former Miss Universe Australia Rachael Finch, publisher Jackie Frank, former Olympian Elka Whalan, businesswoman Kyly Clarke, publicist Lynette Bolton, and media identity Prue MacSween.

The discontinuation of the Kochie’s Angels segment comes after bosses announced that radio personality Sam Mac would be replacing popular presenter Edwina Bartholomew, who has earnt a gig on the desk after three years on the road.

The breakfast program is also currently revamping the set by demolishing “brekky central” with the space undergoing a massive makeover — its biggest in almost three years.

The new set, which has been designed by New York’s Jim Fenhagen, is currently being built in a warehouse in Sydney and is set to be installed this week.
