‘Blindsided’: Aussie reality star’s explosive claims after win

A contestant on Abbie Chatfield-hosted dating show FBoy Island has given a bombshell interview to news.com.au, slamming her chosen winner.

The finale of controversial dating show FBoy Island Australia aired on Monday, with the three leading ladies all loved-up (and cashed up) with their chosen men – who, spoiler alert, all turned out to be Nice Guys.

But while they may have sailed off into the sunset excited for the future, one couple has sadly split just weeks after filming the finale - and one half of the couple has given a bombshell interview to news.com.au, telling us she was “blindsided” when her chosen winner revealed his true colours after the show.

In the finale which is now streaming on BINGE, leading ladies Nicole Mitrov, Ally Woodfall and Krystal Thomas, chose Jack, Joe and Paddy, respectively. It was hugs and high-fives all around in front of host Abbie Chatfield before the couples were each awarded $50,000 for correctly choosing a Nice Guy among a dating pool also consisting of FBoys.

But it has since been revealed that Krystal and Paddy are no longer together, with the pair quietly calling it quits six months ago, just weeks after filming wrapped.

While Krystal had to keep their break-up underwraps while the show was still on-air, she’s now ready to talk and tell her story of how Paddy “completely blindsided” her on the show.

News.com.au caught up with the two winning couples ready to take their relationship into the real world - and we also chatted to Krystal about what really went down with Paddy.

Krystal and Paddy

Krystal was undecided between her final two right up until the eleventh hour: was it going to be wholesome contestant Doug or reformed The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise playboy Paddy? In the end she chose Paddy, although both turned out to be Nice Guys.

“The viewers may know Paddy’s history and probably were screaming at the TV, but he’d only ever presented himself to me as a Nice Guy. And from the get-go, I felt really comfortable with him,” Krystal tells us.

“I think when it came to that moment of seeing what my future would be and my future potential relationship, I was like, ‘OK, I could see it more with Patty than Doug.’”

However, once filming wrapped and she went back to the Gold Coast and he went home to Adelaide, everything went downhill for the pair and they called it quits.

“Unfortunately, Paddy and I are not together anymore,” she says. “He completely blindsided me during the show, the Nice Guy act he put on for me and the viewers is not what was true after cameras stopped rolling.”

Krystal says it was hard watching the episodes back as she feels the wool was pulled over her eyes.

“It’s hard watching the season back as I think his intent was very clear from the beginning and I wish I’d have seen his real side sooner,” she says, before hinting that Paddy still had some FBoy tendencies in him.

“I think if anyone were to ask can FBoys be reformed, I’d say definitely not and Paddy is the clear example of that.”

No doubt being in a long-distance relationship didn’t help matters for the duo. London-born Krystal hinted that she wanted to give it a red-hot go, but the 32-year-old gym manager did not.

“I think with long distance, both parties have to give 100 per cent, otherwise it’s never going to work,” she says. “I definitely kept up with my part of the deal and he just did Paddy.”

Aside from her time with Paddy, Krystal looks back fiondly at the rest of her experience on the show.

“I honestly had the most incredible time. I just really had a great time kissing all the boys, calling out their behaviour, the sisterhood, everything for me was just amazing,” she says.

Krystal was cut up over her decision to eliminate Doug, who was also a Nice Guy.

When asked if she’d like to revisit a relationship with second place-getter Doug, it was a hard no for Krystal.

“I think when it comes down to it, I just have to trust my gut. I think he’s just been spending the time healing and focusing on moving on, and I’m a big believer in never going backwards – I’m looking forwards. So it’s just for the best that we’ve not rekindled [the romance].”

She may not have walked away with the guy, for Krystal there are no mistakes in life, only lessons.

Sadly, she and Paddy split just weeks after they filmed the finale six months ago.

“I never regret anything that I do in my life – it’s just all learning lessons,” she says. “I think it’s led me to where I’m today and I’m kind of grateful for what’s next, but I don’t regret anything that happened on the show. Not one thing.”

“I’m coming into eight years single soon, so it’s quite a long time. I definitely haven’t given up on love. I think the more that I have experiences like FBoy or just general dating experiences, getting to know different people, I think that’s just setting me up for The One.”

Ally and Joe

They were easily the most controversial couple on this season’s FBoy Island Australia, but Ally and Joe are having the last laugh.

“If we look like bad guys because we stuck to our guns and if I look bad because I was loyal and went after what I wanted, then so be it,” Ally tells us. “We know we are good people. We know that what we have is real and we’re blessed.”

“At the end of the day, we came out loving each other and I would do it all over again,” Joe adds. “I would cop all the hate again, if I got to be with Ally.”

Many on the island warned Ally against Joe, calling him “possessive” for wanting Ally to himself.

In finale week, even runner-up Chad walked out after seeing that Joe and Ally’s bond was unbreakable.

“ I wanted what I wanted. I’m not going to try to change what I wanted. I’m not going to try to change the viewer’s perspective on me,” says Joe, with Ally adding that sometimes he is just a “put your foot in your mouth” kinda guy.

“I am a man that does go after what I want, and Ally was just that person for me,” Joe says. “There was another six blokes going after Ally as well, and I was playing competition. That was just how I played. And unfortunately it came out a little bit iffy on TV.”

Chad left because he knew he was Ally’s second choice.

Still, that doesn’t mean there’s no room for improvement. After watching the show back and seeing himself on TV, Joe says he wants to better himself for Ally.

“I’m very fortunate for the editing that I got, and that’s a weird thing to say, but in sense I got to look at all the values and qualities of myself and really work on them,” he says.

“It was like watching a play into my life and saying, ‘Wow, this isn’t great. I should definitely step up. How can I be better? How can I be a better man for Ally?’

“It did help me grow and over the six months, I feel like I’ve done that. We’re two different people than we were on the show. And I’m grateful for it, I really am.”

Ally says that the pushback their relationship got on the show did “take its toll”, but she blocked out the noise and stuck to her convictions.

Ally was warned against Joe all season, but she followed her heart.

“There’s no way around it. You’ve really just got to trust your gut and just go for it,” she says. “Everyone’s got an opinion on our relationship. The only real opinion that matters is between [us].”

They say their real life started when camera stopped rolling six months ago – and it’s even better than they had hoped.

“We are planning to move in with each other in the near future. That is 100 per cent on the cards. It’s in motion,” Joe says.

“We want to spend our lives with each other. And obviously that means marriage. So yes, I am a firm believer I’m going to marry this girl one day.”

Nicole and Jack

It was quite possibly love at first sight for Jack when he saw Nicole.

“I absolutely wanted to find love,” he says about joining the show. “I went in there with an open mind and an open heart and wasn’t scared to be vulnerable, and I did exactly that and got the outcome that I wanted.

“From the first moment I saw Nic, she completely rocked my world, and I just knew then and there that love’s real love’s possible and I had to fight hard for it.”

Not that he had to fight too hard for her affections – Nicole felt a connection too, and chose him for her first one-on-one date.

Nicole was happy with her choice, Jack, who turned out to be a Nice Guy.

“Jack just had this energy. You can’t quite describe it, but it was just this calm and the show so chaotic,” she recalls.

“But once I saw him and at that very first mixer, we had such a nice conversation. I was talking to everyone that night, but once I sat down with Jack, he was the first guy that I actually felt relaxed with.”

The couple are now madly in love and looking to move in together.

Still, she had to give the other guys a chance and she developed feelings for Sean too, who Jack always didn’t see eye-to-eye with. And naturally, it was hard seeing him steal Nicole away on occasion.

“I think particularly with Nic, the feelings are just so instant. So it was very hard to watch, but you also understand that you’re it’s a dating show, so you’ve got to be realistic,” he says.

But it didn’t take long for Nicole to know who her pick would be: “My heart was with Jack,” she tells us.

Sean begged Nicole for another shot at the finale.

After filming wrapped, the couple’s bond has only strengthened as they admit they’re madly in love and thinking abut moving in together.

“I think what’s been great is that post-show, we’ve been able to obviously learn so much more about each other, fall in love with each other, and we’re just obsessed with each other,” says Nicole, who is based in Melbourne with Jack in Queensland.

“I see Jack in my life forever now, and it’s weird to say that out loud, but I think you come to this point and we’re both ready for this type of relationship. If I move up here or if you move down, if it’s Sydney, wherever, but I think end goal is that we want to move in ASAP. Fingers crossed soon.”
