She’s no stranger to setting trends and now MasterChef’s Melissa Leong has debuted a striking new look that’s receiving glowing reviews.

Reality TV shows that won't make you hate the world

MasterChef host Melissa Leong has become something of an on-screen style icon in recent years.

While we may tune in to see the hopeful contestants cook their way through numerous triumphs and disasters, we also tune in for Leong’s wardrobe. She has firmly cemented herself as an Aussie trendsetter. Now, the TV judge and food writer has debuted a drastic new look.

Leong took to social media to show off a new hair do. Her trademark long locks are gone and instead, she has a much shorter look – a chic bob.

“Snip, snip, bang bang” she captioned the post.

The fans were in unison, giving Leong glowing reviews of her new haircut.

“Omg Love this!!” One wrote.

“Omg! I love it! It really suits you Mel,” Another exclaimed.

One fan noted, “Ahhh, the liberation of the chop. Such a symbolic way to cleanse the old. You are gorgeous.”

It looks like Leong’s new haircut will set a trend with many of her fans commenting that they’re also looking to take the plunge.

One shared, “I’ve been trying to do this but every time get talked out of it!!!”

Leong responded, “Barring any continuity, just do it!!”

The TV judge made a not so drastic change to her hair earlier this year. Leong shared an image to her Instagram showing off a lighter shade of brunette in January captioned “New hair, who dis?”

It came after the announcement just days before Christmas that she and her husband had decided to part ways after almost four years of marriage.

Leong made the shock pre-Christmas announcement via her Instagram page, telling fans that “the time has come” for her and her bar owner husband to part ways.

“It has brought us such happiness to walk together, but the time has come for Joe and I to part ways and walk on, apart,” she wrote.

We ask for your kindness and consideration for our privacy, we will not be making any further comment as our private lives have, and will always remain exactly that. We wish you peace at the end of such a challenging year for all.”

Leong had gushed about her relationship with Jones in a June interview with TV Week, explaining they were engaged after dating for just three months, and married two months later.

Leong became MasterChef’s standout star last year when a complete hosting reshuffle revitalised the cooking show after more than a decade on air.

Viewers were hooked, dubbing her “the best thing to happen to prime time television in 2020”.
